Best caulk to replace existing bead around center console

Need to replace the bead of caulk around the center console of my 2005 Mckee Craft Freedom24. What is the best to use? I know it will be a time consuming bear to carefully remove all the old stuff. Your replies much appreciated!

I would go with Lifecaulk or 3M101. Speaking with Key McKee a couple of years ago, that is what they used for the deck covers & consoles.

If this is the same product as the old Caulk-Tex, it is absolutely great.

And note: It is claimed to stick to Starboard, too.

I used regular old plain Jane 100% Silicone Pure White Bath and Shower for $2. It has mold inhibitors and does mind the sun.

Flex Set is a good product. As stated above do not use 5200.. if repairs or re-wiring need to be done,, you will need dynamite to get the 5200 off.

I would have liked to use Caulk-Tex. Unfortunately, I don't think it's available any more. Flex-Set (made by the Marine-Tex people) isn't exactly a caulking, it's an adhesive, although a somewhat flexible adhesive. It would certainly be excellent for the application described.

Thank you for your interest in Marine Tex product. Flex Set is not Caulk Tex nor is it a replacement for that product. Flex Set is more akin to an adhesive where Caulk Tex was a caulk like material that could be peeled and replaced when needed. Flex Set permanently bonds to a surface.

Like said 5200 only if you never ever plan on taking it off. 4200 same great stuff but you can remove it later if needed.
