grady white vs sailfish

Recommended Posts

looking at Grady White 290 (update to 280) and Sailfish 30-06....looking for opinions ..feedback....or anything else....thanks

I haven't been on those two particular models. I would recommend taking a ride on both in rough conditions. If the sailfish doesn't outperform the Grady by a lot go with the Grady. Grady typically has a good following and their resale value reflects that following. Grady's get bashed a lot on forums as having a rough ride, but I know several people that have switched from Contenders, Regulators, and Sea Vee's that love their Grady White's (makes their girlfriends/wives happy having a cabin and lots of seats).

My guess is that the seatrail is the best way to determine your preference.. resale of the grady will be higher,, if that matters at this point.. i vote for the Grady White. have not sailed on the larger sail fish(21 - 23 only ) , but i have been on the 25 - 28 gradys , heavy and seaworthy when powered correctly. Very smooth ride.

Both are good boats!I may be a little bias because I own a Grady but if I were you I would sea trial em both and than make your mind up.

Seatrial both,

I would say the Grady is higher end boat but it will cost you more. I am also not slamming the Sailfish as I own a 06 2360 CC and have loved it. I think the Sailfish 2860 would be my choice over the 30-06 just because it has a great rep. The Sailfish should be a lot less money than the Grady and several places are giving out some great deals on Sails right now... I would definitely give the Sailfish some serious consideration.
