GARMIN GP-48

Recommended Posts

Just boat a used boat with subject GPS. I want to have the display read TD rather than LL. I also want to plug in the offset to improve accuracy.

Garmin says yes you can do, they gave me the link to the instruction manual. Neither myself nor my electronics guy (who I blieve is quite sharp) can figure this out. The instructions in the manual are lacking any clarity.

Can anyone walk me through this please?

Are you sure about the Garmin model # GP 48?

THE 48 IS AN OUT-OF-PRODUCTION HANDHELD. oops pardon the caps...I have one and will jack with it a bit and see what I can do. I think you want more than the unit can give, after all they were built in the late 80's early 90's.

I don't think I have ever seen an application to convert L/L to TD's that was worth the time it took to use it. Have you considered a Furuno LC 90 MK II Loran C reciever? Loran is going to be with us for a while (I think).

As to the manual, Remember these Japanese product manuals are written by someone who has English as a second (at best) language.
