Yamaha Tach Gauge - different gauge, different problem

We took both boats out this weekend, the new 26-footer and my old 22-footer. A friend of mine is buying my old boat, so we ran it this weekend to make sure everything was working properly. Everything worked well except the tach gauge (2003 vintage). It doesn't display the RPM, nor does the hour meter advance. The trim gauge and the idiot lights seem to work just fine, though.

Got any suggestions on where to start looking? I checked under the dash and under the motor cowling, but nothing seemed loose or disconnected.

Sounds like the tach signal wire is disconnected. There should be a green wire coming from the engine harness that connects to the back of the gauge.

Thanks, Frank! That's exactly what it was. The green wire from the controls came unplugged.
