Download the Google toolbar...the pop-up blocker that comes w/ it is great.

-or-

Download and use Google chrome for your browser (instead of IE)

Firefox runs a close second, especially if you combine it w/ the Google toolbar. IE Sux.

I just downloaded Google Chrome. Should I delete IE?

BTW..thanks :605_thumbs_up:

No need to delete it...that way if you don't like chrome you can go back.

You're very welcome...I hope you like it. I know I've become particularly attached to the homepage where it shows your most visited sites.

One other benefit: alot of people complain about all the ads between posts on THT....Using chrome, I can't see ANY of them.

WEAKFISH,

If the pop ups are showing up while simply using your computer, not necessarily while browsing the web, you probably have been infected with some sort of spyware / malware. Over the years theses malware applications have morphed into some real nasty buggers.

Make sure your Virus protection is up to date and run a full scan on your system partition ( most likely your C:\ drive) see if it comes up with anything.

I have used plenty of spyware killer applications over the years and have found a few that work really well.

Try installing malwarebytes and run a full scan on your system.

You can download it for free here: http://malwarebytes.org/ I have had good results with it.

Give it a try it might help.

Malwarebytes is an awesome APP! I'll add that CCleaner will help also. When I come across a PC that's acting up, these 2 are the first programs I run.
