  1. 2002 Four Winns H190 open bow with a 5.0 volvo penta V8 and outdrive. I put a large battery charger on for 20 min. When i turn the over the motor to start it, the motor runs for a second then shuts off and my beeping alarm system does not beep anymore when the key is turned 1 click before starting the boat. Is it possible I burned something up such as a relay possibly to cause these problems?
  2. killswitch? Are you referring to the lanyard that pulls out by the throttle to shut motor down and prevent it from starting? If so, i checked it and was hooked up
  3. I have a 2002 Four Winns H190. 5.0 V8 Volvo Penta engine and outdrive. I winterized the boat last fall and getting it ready for the water this past week. First off the starter went bad from sitting all winter. Never took the drain plug out and water sat in the bottom of engine with the starter underwater during the boating season. Unfortunately didnt discover this problem till came time to winterize boat. I replaced the starter today. Turned it over and everything seemed fine as far as the motor turning over except the motor will not stay running for more than a second. Once I turn the key and it fires up with some throttle i let off the ignition switch and the motor dies. It acts like it only runs when i have the ignition turned the whole way engaging the starter. Another thing i noticed when I turn the key one click, I normally hear the beeping alarm system to let me know its working but since i changed the starter i no longer hear it. Im obviously thinking its something to do with the wiring on the starter but dont seem how it could be wrong. The original starter had the main red power wire from battery and the red and orange wire from the wireharness all connected to one termial. Then the purple was on the left termial and yellow on the right termial. Ive tried putting gas in the carb thinking no gas in the fuel line from sitting all winter but no luck. Im betting something with my connections on the starter is preventing it from running and preventing my beeping alarm system to work. Anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem?
