  1. UPDATE.................. Dealer/ service mgr. confirmed motor was mounted crooked and contacted the factory . Also had area rep come to look at it . Rep stated "this is the worst one I have ever seen" Rangers answer ...... Sorry can't be crooked leave it alone. This was looked at before and we still believe the motor is mounted correct . Rep contacted factory and was told it just looks crooked leave it alone. Service mgr sent 2 very nice emails with pictures as requested. Answer ....boat is now out of warranty if customer wants us to look at it he can bring boat to factory and we will look at it or we will pick boat up at dealership with our transport during a delivery. Customer will pay $550.00 for transport . I instructed the service mgr that this issue was brought to their attention in 08. Factory instructed that dealer to leave it alone "can't be crooked" finally after I sent all emails and pics to the head of warranty they responded by giving first dealer the ok to fix. They were sending out pultruded rod and adheisive . The head mechanic at this dealership told me he was not comfortable doing this repair, stated to me "I will do it but I can't promise it will be perfict but it will be better" I felt boat should go back to the factory New dealer/ service mgr forwarded all this info to head of warranty . He called me and now they want the boat back at the factory. No charge for transport . I have a 2 week trip planned and then it's back to the dealer then back to the factory. I will say both dealers have been great but I can't believe the factory wasn't bending over backwards to make this right???? I also have a spot in the floor that never bonded to the inner floor and they said they would look at this also.
  2. Actually the boat is going to a new dealer for the bellcrank recall on the Verado This fri. and they are calling the area ranger rep to come out and look at it. The service mngr seems pretty sharp. He told me he has seen other motors mounted crooked from ranger . I'll report what they say.

  9. Anyone know a good online vendor to buy a bep cluster and some bep breakers . I've tried a few of the links they have on their site with no luck. Im looking for a # 716 cluster Thanks Dave
  10. Here's a pic I took the day I visited the factory . Looks like the guy on the left has a jig mounted to a hull bottom and is drilling away. also look at the hull to the right , engine holes are already drilled . I was pretty sure it was done this way at this factory but the pic is proof. At this facility the decks travel down one side of the plant and the hulls are on the opposite side. Both sides have a "cutting area" where all the holes /grinding is done. This just means "IMO" that the "FIBERGLASS ENGINEER" that worked on my boat just blew the jig alignment ,either it slipped or it had some crud on it when it went up against the bottom of my hull .
  11. How does the factory jig mount to the hull? I would think it should be squared up up to the running surface of the hull?Do the mounting holes get drilled after the cap gets joined to the hull? My upper bolts are not visable in the splashwell, there are two access holes in the splash well to access the nuts. I guess what I'm unclear on is if the cap was put on crooked would that throw off the jig?Now the factory uses robots to drill the holes.
  12. Crappy docks/piers that have nails and jagged shards of metal ready to mame my pristine gelcoat, no matter how I place my fenders. Oh and all floating docks ,up here people use em so they can leave em in during hard water (ice). Most of the floating docks I have walked on bounce and bob so much you feel like you had 4 margaritas .
  13. Thanks 250 I know your background and trust your judgement so I'll let the dealer have a crack at it. Dave
  14. Agreed. It's actually a simple job for any accomplished glass guy. But it needs to be done, on their dime! Guys, its not the glass work I'm worried about. Not really any glass work to do if I understood them correctly. They plan to pull the motor ,check the existing holes against the template .assuming the upper starboard hole is correct they will then prep the other 3 holes and plug them with pultruded fiberglass rod and bonding adheisive. Now comes the part that worries me . The orig. holes are off by about 3/16" wich means when they drill the new holes they will be drilling mostly on the rod and partially into the transom . If they had the "real" template from the factory and went nice and slow should work out fine but the tech told me there sending out a paper template .He told me he cant guarantee it will be perfect but it will be better . WTF. Also it seems every time I bring my boat in for service I find another nic or scratch in the cowling. I just want to be clear I do like this dealer ,they have been verry helpful in a very bad situation with this boat "enough of a story to start a new thread about dealer horror stories" . So ..... let em have at it or insist it go back to the factory ?????
  15. Hey welder ,this is some of my work ,been doin lots of rays and sailfish .I'll paint anything if it will sell. This black on was for a guys sons 21st birthday. Back to my engine my 1st question to you guys is do you all think a dealer can handle this job?
  16. If I remember correctly he was leaving the funeral of another hockey legend somewhere up in canada and was killed in a car crash. Very sad. Small ass world indeed!
  17. Im in new lenox not far from the heights or O.F. Sox fan too BUT how bout them HAWKS !!!!! Used to go to the Stadium when Makita and Bobby and Glenn, and of course Tony in goal...man that was fun! Kieth Magnuson, remember him? Played ball at Rich Central, we used to play non-conf games at Romeoville, Lockport, Joliet Central and Catholic, Plano...boy, that was a few years ago...graduated '78. Take my advice on the Vrod F-up. Tell them to fix it! Here's a quick story 4 u. I met a guy through a friend of mine ,He's like the "real" most interesing man in the world like in the dos XX beer commercials. Were at the Chop house in downtown Chicago and his best friend /body guard Eddie who was an x hockey plyr is telling me about how "they" all get together at some italian joint once a month . Bobby,Stan,Tony and Bobby Orr to name a few . I tell him I played hockey in hs and got a ride to play in college but couldnt due to my class load. I grew up dreaming about these guys . Next thing I know he hands me his cell phone and I hear hellow ,hi whats up not much BLA BLA BLA I'm confused ,so I hand the phone back ,Eddie gets on and says Hey bobby I thought this punk would get a kick out of talkin to you but he's too stupid to hold a conversation,I'll talk to you later. While all this is goin on Fritz takes off his pants and proceedes to show all the hot ladies in the room his legs. He bet em all he had better legs than any of them . He won and got big kisses from all inc. my wife. Fritz IMO is the most colorful man I have ever met .He runs all the Miller beer sales in Chicago and his "job" is to party every night He travels with Eddie and a driver and goes through a full bottle of Grey Goose a night. He is the center of attention where ever he goes and even though he's in his mid sixtys he manages to woo beautiful women half his age. I was lucky enough to be invited by Fritz into Rockys box at the united center 2 seasons ago and met Mr hull,Mr, Makita and a few other idols of mine . Someting I will never forget. Yes I remember #3 sad way for a legend to die

  19. Hi guys and girls ,I'm new to the site but have been a "quiet" long time member of tht. I never posted this question over there but I feel some of the experts on this site can steer me in the right direction. I'll try to keep this post as short as poss, and if you have any Q's as to why I did or didnt do something I'll answer as they are asked. Background: custom ordered a boat from a major boat Mfg. This is an inshore/lake boat 20.5' ,fiberglass, powered by a 250 Verado, and a 9.9merc kicker.Spared no expense ,top of the line locators -trolling mtr ,and almost every option avail. Problem: The factory mounted my Verado crooked. I first noticed it about a week after taking delivery. #1 contacted The Mfg and they first told me there was no way it could be mounted crooked due to the template they use to drill the holes. My response was all it takes is a bit of crud to get in between the template and the hull and now the holes are off. Factory rigging expert told me that was impossible.Told me to take it to the dealer and have him look at it. Dealer agreed with the factory until he saw the boat and then agreed it was mounted crooked. Fixx??? Brought the boat into the dealer and they called the factory and the factory still did not believe it was crooked ,so I emailed pics to the factory >>>nope just an optical illusion. Had the head tech called the factory and told them "this motor is mounted crooked" answer... Doubt it but if it is so what it wount hurt any thing. Next I emailed the factory with the problem ,not just the head of rigging but every high up guy I could find .I wanted the boat to go back to the factory for the fix. Answer: best they will do is send a template ,some form of epoxy and some fiberglass dowl rod and have the dealer fix it . I like this dealer but I know what they need to do to fix this and I just dont know if I want them to attempt this. will a crooked/tilted motor cause running issues? BTW its tilted top to port bottom to starbord.I put it on my frame machine at my shop and shot a lazer down the centerline of the hull , when trimmed down the skeg is 1.75" off center. I have pics on another computer if anyone is interested Opinions please Dave
