  1. Tim, I got lost in the "fishing" part and missed the stuff about schools, etc. Definitely nothing in Venice to do except fish, and LA schools are worse than MS schools. Big Al
  2. Venice, LA. Hands down. No other. No argument. Nowhere else even comes close. End of story. Big Al
  3. I have been accused of many things, but possessing crystal clear logic wasn't one of 'em. Big Al
  4. Two boats sitting on trailers, instead of being used. Big problem. And yer water pressure looks a bit low. Big Al
  5. What do you call a German Shepard tied to the bow cleat? Turkish RADAR. Big Al
  6. Thank gawd the band distracted everyone just long enough for me to pull my tattered psyche together long enough to get the hell out of there. I wiped my sweaty brow, massaged my scraping intestines, and looked both ways down the dusty highway, seeing only the tail of school bus steadily getting smaller above the roadway winding to the west. I thought about how empty this land would have been a few hundred years ago; I thought about Belgian beer and Dutch whores; I thought about baby seals and purple speedos; I though how Ludicrous my thoughts were. Just then, I heard the tell tale clak from the hammer of a .45 auto being cocked.... Big Al
  7. Hay Steve, If I bring Willie with me, can we take a dip when you get this thing up and running? Make sure the bunnies are still there. Big Al
  8. Wiley, I think there is money to be made going long during the next 12 to 14 months. Then the apocalypse. We MUST pay for the current printing of money, and interest rates MUST increase dramatically. I believe it will be much sooner than later. Big Al
  9. When fishing, especially offshore, I very seldom have a beer. And if I do, it is only one during the run back to the dock. For river runs and/or booze cruises, well..... I don't know what the law in MS is. And I don't care. I don't get drunk on the water, ever. Big Al
  10. Do your duty, vote for Ludi. Tired of the same old doody? Vote for change, vote for Ludi. Think the current guy is bootycrous? Vote for change, vote for Ludicrous. Want free coke & whores? Vote for Ludicrous. Big Al I would go with the last one....
  11. Tell oxy-guy that your truck is within the rules, and if he/they really want to make an issue of it, then you prepared to do so. Big Al
  12. Yep, I have a fishing buddy who is also a serious a-hole. We use his boat(s). He pays for fuel for his truck/towing. He pays for fuel for the boat. Friggin bastid. Hey BOOMER - when are we going out again?? Big Al
  13. As posted earlier, the turn of the century was the height of field development (meaning - put em on the shelves and we'll sort out the remaining issues later) for the Direct Injection engines. I discovered THT because of my horrific experience with Mercruy Marine regarding my 2001 big bore opiti's. I think Mercury actually learned from the 2000/2001 Optimax debacle, in terms of customer service. I think all of the mfg's took notes from Merc on that. I think the larger majority of boaters understand that outboard engines will let you down eventually, irrespective of make & model (except for the 2 stroke, 3 cylinder, carbuerated 75 HP Merc. The finest outboard of all time. ). I do think that the quality of the products has increased in the past 5 years, but greater than that has been the increased level of customer and dealer service from the manufacturers. Granted, there are some horror stories, and always will be. I am speaking on the whole. There will always be bashers, but there is far less fodder for fueling the bashfests these days. Now that the outboard mfg's have leveled the playing field, I have to wonder where they will take the design technology next? Big Al
  14. If that's an Airbus, you might want to take it to the mfg for repair. Big Al
  15. Steve, I won't tell you what to buy (unless you want to make an offer on the below described unit ; but you'll have to up yer budget ), but can give you a real world example of Tahoe ownership. My wife drives an 04 2WD Tahoe, 325 flex fuel gasser, LT package, 16 inch wheels, towing pkg. Sunroof, leather, power everything, DVD player for back seats. Lo ho ho ho ho ho oaded. It currently has 75k miles on it. She (not me, HER ) tows a 2 stall, tandem axle, all steel horse trailer with approximately 2500 pounds of horseflesh in it, several times per month. Most weekends, in fact. I don't know the weight of the trailer, but would guesstimate it a perhaps a ton. You don't even notice the thing being there, in terms of feeling the weight. I also towed a 5800 pound boat with it quite a few times during the first year we owned it, and was never nervous at the ramp. I did not do any long distance towing of the boat; but those damn horses have seen some country from that trailer.... No major problems with the vehicle. Put new tires (Toyo HT's) on a few months ago, and am currently looking at replacing the shocks. It still drives and rides very well, but I can tell that the trailering has taken a toll on the shocks. There was a problem with the instrument cluster (a GM quasi-recall - they would not replace the cluster until it acted up. Well, ours was very intermittent and it took a whole lot of pounding on the dealer to finally get it replaced); and also the fuel pump started dying at 70k miles, which I found to be pretty pathetic. When the fuel got below 1/4 of a tank, it would not start. My brother replaced the in-tank fuel pump while I sat on a cooler drinking beer, telling him how much I appreciated his help. Hope this helps with your decision. We will not buy another GM product d/t political belief reasons. If those reasons were not in place, we would definitely replace it with another Tahoe. Instead, it will be replaced with a Navigator. Big Al P.S. - you can also hide several hundred pounds of vaccum packed weed in the body panels; or so I have heard.
  16. "that 5 o'clock shadow is very becoming, for a peasant girl". She instantly smiled, licking her lips while batting her eyelids. She then excused herself and strolled off toward the men's room. My mind raced, my hear pounded, and then the realization struck me with all the force of a blown aircraft tire upon landing, and I shouted to no one in particular "that's it!!! that's it!!! Just then, two lumbering ETEC owners in tattered CONTENDER t-shirts began waddling toward me at a brisk pace. Damn the luck! I had just purchased a used, heaver splattered Bayliner powered by a 50 hp Force outboard. How was I gonna be able to reason with these two? Big Al
  17. While holding her gaze and hearing the jukebox thumping out "Thriller", I chugged 4 more V&T's and farted. Dear Lord, how did this moment happen? I was only in town to retrieve my purple speedos, and now this. A man is only flesh, and blood, and booze. Big Al
  18. Philadelphia has a football team? Big Al SAINTS!!!
  19. Those blue eyes of hers locked onto mine; and in a perfect Yosemite Sam voice she cooed "you ain't from around here, er ya boy?" My heart, and erection, melted. Big Al
  20. That's one of the meanings of life. Welcome aboard. I, too, am a lifelong student - just not a very good one.... Big Al
