  1. Thats why Iam thinking its a good idea to try and save what I have. Last summer I replaced an axle and leaf springs. The rest of the trailer looks to be in good shape. The main frame of the trailer is "c" section steel?? Dont know if thats the correct term or not, So I know theres no rust there. I am going to take alot of pics when I do this and do a litte build thread.
  2. Well if I go with what my shop told me, Iam going to do it myself. The only thing I will get them to do is weld the plates on the end of the crossmembers. I have been looking at aluminum trailers online, and I haven't really ever noticed that the whole thing is bolted together. That is making me want to just try and fix what I have. Its just gonna be a matter of measuring, taking the old off, cleaning it up a bit, and bolting the new on.
  3. I have been kicking around the idea of puchasing a used aluminum trailer. Today I stopped by my local Boat Mechanics shop, and he told me "dont buy anything we can fix what you have for alot less" The problem with my trailer is the main cross sections that the bunkers sit on, are rusted beyond repair. He has told me to go purchase new crossmembers, and he can weld on a plate to each end, then I can bolt it to the trailer where the old crossmembers were welded to. Has anyone ever tried or seen this done before. Sounds like it will work, and he says that it is pretty strong to. So what do you guys thing good idea, bad idea??
  4. Looks like yal had a blast!!! Sometimes days like that turn into the most fun. Yal will prolly remember that day for ever!!!
  5. Iam gonna watch this one. Plan on doing some wiring on my 98 Cobia.
  6. First off I have to find a new/used trailer. The one my Cobia is sitting on now is just rust holding hands. Then on with some goodies: T-Top (C.E. Smith or Stryker) New dash with all new gauges New upholstery on lean to and front ice chest seat New rub rail Speakers either on the T-Top or in the original spots Remove all old pin stripping and Cobia sticker and replace with new model emblem Finally a real good cleaning and waxing!!!!!
  7. I have just added coastalnightlights.com to my list of stuff I want to do to my boat! Great looking product and easy to install by the looks of it.
  8. Has anyone seen one of these in person? I am planning on getting a T-Top this summer, but now that I have to purchase a new trailer, my budget for a T-Top has went to shit. I like the fact that I can install it myself. C.E. Smith makes a nice one but its close to a custom top in price. Stryker is supposed to be coming out with a top that doesn't fold, which I think would be good for what I am wanting. Any advise, good and bad, woill be great!! Thanks guys!!! I am also looking for a used trailer for a 19' center console to, if any one can help.
