  1. Sounds a bit high for an intitial painting. For reference, for a routine bottom paint job (ie not first time, no primer, etc), average in this area is $20/ft
  2. Actually, a level belwo mediocrity to be exact. Your first link is dated November 2008, so it does not take into account the Eagles bridesmaids performance of last season. The second link is a grading by a group of so called experts that picked the Cowboys to go to the Super Bowl last year. The best O-line? An awfully bold claim for a group that has never played together yet. Sure on paper you got some great talent, but how will they work as a unit. Best group of D backs? Again, maybe on paper, but you have some serious attitudes back there. Brown wants out and will be a disruption, Samuel is a known locker room issue raiser. Hobbs I said is a solid performer who shows up every week. Still has the stigma of the Super Bowl though!! The team still has no leader though. Questionable coaching. A receiver corp that is a bunch of has beens and never will be's. Look for the Eagles to finish second behind the Giants and be fighting for a wildcard at 8-8, 9-7 tops. Grwoing up a Bruins fan I can feel for you though. You see, we always knew the Bruins would win in the first round of the playoffs, face the Canadians, and be eliminated. It was ho hum to us, we just expected it. Just like you expect the Eagles to go to the NFC finals and lose. I bet you do not even waste your day watching the game as deep down youalready know the outcome. To call the Eagles a "great" team is akin to calling the Bills one of the best Super Bowl teams of all time.
  3. The Eagles - get real man. Until they get themselves a team leader, they will always be mired at a level below mediocrity. Congratulations on Hobbs, he is a solid stable consistent DB. He did however get beaten for the TD catch in the Super Bowl against the Giants.
  4. Weather was in the 80's on Saturday and we hit the 90's on Sunday! That is the good news. The bad news is the boat was still on the hard and I spent most of Saturday with 3M wax in one hand, and a rag in the other! Anyway, boat goes in today!
  5. I have not heard any reports of squid in the bay. Will check with some bait shops tonight though.
  6. I am going to go with idiot. She should never have made a threat that she could not back up in the first place!
  7. The problem as I see it is two fold in this case 1) Why have the police check if you will not let them do anything about it. 2) The kid in question has not learned that stupid has its price based on his past arrest. Another thing, Barrington is an affluent area, and also a dry town. If you hear a head line out of RI about a teenager being involved in a vehicular homicide with alcohol involved - start from the premise they are from Barrington and then look to eliminate it from there.
  8. It seems there are a rash of these lately. I just do not understand this, the father calls the police to check on his house, then refuses to let them in when clearly an underage drinking party is going on. http://www.projo.com/news/content/barringt...18.3a18edc.html
  9. Check with a local auto body supplier. I believe they make a wheel for auto body work that is specifically designed to remove decals.
  10. Proves there is a seat for every azz - I just simply think it is ugly.
  11. Based on what this guy used to tell me, the creativity amongst the inmates was rather good it seems.
  12. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090416/ap_on_...akes_on_a_plane I actually find this pretty funny.
  13. Not surpised that it actually worked for them. Amazing what people can do with newspapers. I used to have a roofing sub-contractor who told me how they used to make arrows out of mewspaper in prison.
  14. Are you working with a mortgage broker or bank loan officer yet? If not, when you approach them, make it known that you work in a construction related industry (they will find this out when you fill out the application, but make it known upfront). Make it known that you rent/lease equipment to developers doing projects and that you have good relationships with them. Then make it known that if your process goes smoothly, you could talk to the developers about referral business given how well your transaction went. Then simply mention that you really need your loan approved in short order. Brokers/LO's have favor banks with underwriting managers and if they see referral business on the other end, they can get you approved in short order.
  15. I still enjoy it because there is nothing else on Tuesday nights in that time slot. However, the show seems to becoming stale in that it is the same thing over and over again each season. I did notice though that this season they seem to be focusing more on the economic aspect of running the boats and the capital required to keep them at sea.
  16. Congratulations on the future arrival. Wishing you and your Mrs. the best and a smooth recovery for her.
  17. I have no issue with them hiring someone, as long as they are competent. I can understand the clients position, from a business perspective. They know nothing about the building industry and are hedging their investment, which really is a smart move. Really no different than people who hire a surveyor to provide reports on boats that have been commissioned or surveys on new vessels. The problem I have is first that the identified "critical issues" are anything but and stupid to say the least. Second, the approach the inspector provides the report to them. It is in a manner that everything needs to stop and these non-issues fixed now. The owners called me, and I talked them off the ledge. They actually "get it" once it is explained to them, but it takes some time and effort to get them off the ledge if you will. I think I have talked them away from this so called inspector and they will be hiring a new one. I have alos got them to agree that under the new inspector, before their report is submitted, it will include written repsonses to any items from me and the report will be signed by me and the inspector.
  18. I will scan a cross section drawing and post it.
  19. So, client asks me up front if I have an issue with them hiring a home inspector to provide them independent reports throughout the build process. I say "Not at all". So they do, and I have to say that this clown is simply stealing money from these people and should be ashamed to make the claim that he is "in the industry". 1) There is a false wall in the lower level kitchen that needs to be removed Reply - it is called a wet wall stupid and allows for extra insulation to prevent pipes from freezing. Clearly shown on page 9 of the plans 2) Electrical panel is too small Reply - Try looking at the main panel and not one of the sub panels next time (report had a picture of the "too small" panel) 3) Second floor is missing three walls that are shown on plans provided Reply - Check the princess bathroom, you will see it is missing the over sized jacuzzi they ordered, which is back ordered. I will gladly have the walls framed in once you explain to me how we get the jacuzzi in the bathroom without then having to take them down because it will not fit 4) Unneccessary bridging in first floor study. Buyer should ask for credit back on labor spent installing Reply - The study has a nine piece crown molding schedule. An unintelligent builder, does not put in blocking and then says, @@##$$ I wish I had blocking to nail to. An intelligent builder adds blocking during framing and then worries not where there are nailers when finishing out a room. 5) There is a framed wall in the basement that has non pressure treated lumber in contact with concrete Reply - Did you look carefully at the so called room? It is a temporary room built for onsite tool storage. It will get knocked down when the project is finished. 6) No electrical outlets roughed in on any walls in the billiards room Reply - Owner has not finalized plan for size/number of raised panels in room. Outlet locations can not be established until number of panels are known as a careful builder ensures that they are centered in the panels. Stupidity annoys me to no end!!
  20. Well it certainly is inconsiderate, especially in this market. However, the mods may have done your friend a favor. Just think how many other people looking for work may have seen it ahead of him or after him and applied. By deleting it, they may have kept the applicant pool lower for your friend. Hey, had to try and find a glass is half full out of this somehow.
  21. Chris: Where do you launch from or keep your boat moored on the bay?
