  1. Hey, guys. Helped a buddy shop for and buy a 2003 Pro Line DC, 150 Merc Saltwater series motor. We looked at several before we found and bought this one. On one boat, the owner had fixed a quick disconnect adapter to the washout port on the back of the motor. We are looking to put one on this boat. I have searched and googled and no luck....if anyone knows what I mean and can help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Rick
  2. Bob, I have just spent the past two days replacing bilge and washdown pumps, water/fuel seperator, wiring and hoses in a 20' Pro Line. Hanging by my heels from the deck, lots of blood rushing to my head....dizzyness and gushing are a direct result. Try to have them built with a little more access, will ya!!!
  3. Ah, yes...Texas. The original home of "Ban the nets" in inshore waters!!
  4. Hey there tooreel. I am a little south of you, but we are getting lots of bait and the mackeral are running really good on the flats in about 14-15 ft. Also short grouper, some big trout and small shark. I have a bestgpsspots chip I just loaded in my Lowrance and got a bunch of spots up your way. Let me know if you want some numbers and I can fire up the gps and search out a few. Rick
  5. Masaryktown, Florida here and we boat out of Bayport. Also full of rocks and oyster beds. Lost a prop just last year to a moment of inattention and a slight drift from the channel. On the upside we have a new park with upgraded ramps and parking. Even on weekends there is little pressure launching and loading.
  6. Who could ask for a better job...hob nobbin with the manufacturers, dealers, brokers, sales and servicemen that cater our wonderful industry!! It has been said often, find a job you love and it may not seem like work.... Obviously not downplaying your efforts, but your enthusiasm for what you do is infectious. I feel you are the envy of many a man and woman on this forum! Thanks Wiley for the post and shooting straight with us. It's neat to hear of your workings behind the scenes. We care!!
  7. Happy birthday to the two celebrants...may there be many more!
  8. Heck yeah...I fished Haulover pier (Miami) as a kid and my stepfather owned a big 'ol Harnell with a Penn 68. We landed a few tarpon off that pier back in the early 60's.
  9. Somewhat anti-climatic to say the least!! Oh well, in today's world you just don't know how something like that will be sized up and dealt with. Hopefully no long term or short term damage will be done.
  10. "Opening Day Weather"......What...this is about baseball?? I thought it at least had to do with grouper season!! Some people don't get out on their boats enough. Sorry, Bob, just had to say that....
  11. Just raggin on ya, man! Trust me, once you get up in years, dangling over that bow rail and freeing up a hook can be downright dangerous. My KW at least has a bow pulpit and I regularly use the anchor rest as we move around to different spots. Then tie it down in the locker for the ride in. As an electronics tech for the past 40 yrs. I know a pro's work when I see it. You, sir, are in that category! What a fine job, and nary a tiewrap out of place!!
  12. I have been overhaulin and working on Penn reels for many a year. I like their ruggedness and simplicity. But lately I find that my Shimano TLD's are starting to go with me a little more often. They have a good drag system and are rugged themselves. Also have some Diawa SeaLines. Not too bad for the money, but the diawa label has fallen off one already..
  13. Well. I recognize Chris' boat, the one in the middle...and I notice HE DON'T HAVE NO BIG ANCHOR HANGIN OVER THE BOW!! Man, get rid of that big hook and those babes will mosey on up a little closer!!
  14. That water mixing with the lower unit gear oil will eventually destroy the bearings in that unit. I checked another forum and did not find that Honda 130 listed as having a known seal problem. Just replacing the seal without finding out the reason for failure is not an accepted troubleshooting procedure. Good luck!
  15. Just uploaded as my new background.....wifey loves it...thanks, Wiley!! Rick
  16. OK...I'm believing you work for a good outfit and you guys can get qaway with this kind of stuff. If so, you have nothing to worry about. For now!! If not, and your company is looking to unload someone then..???
  17. Sweet......if it's free, it's for me.... ....actually, will be willing to pay market value!!
  18. Me an Fergus was double teamin...hell, I ain't never heard no styrofoam break. He's a gonna drift back down here any time now...
  19. Really neat...Tropy rigging will never look so good!!
  20. Thanks to all the posters for following up my original post. Thanks blacklabmarine for the info on the aluminum boats. Never had a clue about those!!
  21. Some of you may have read this article in the latest issue of Boattest. As an ex sailor (1966 - 1972) I always had a wish to cruise in one of these beasts! http://www.boattest.com/Resources/view_news.aspx?NewsID=3207
  22. And I am a Southern guy who just loves boats and loves to fish. I think it's neat to surf in on the other regional forums to see what they have going on. This whole forum just keeps getting better and better. My thanks to all of those who have participated! Good job done by all... By the way heading out in the AM. Five of us aboard the KW. We will have 14 rods here there and everywhere. We will try the shark bite and then the kingfish troll. Hope we do OK!
  23. Has anyone succesfully been able to pop back in the ceramic inserts on a Shimano 20# rod?? I have a buddy who dropped off a reel the other day for cleaning and asked about the rod. Most times this happens, the ring splits and we replace the eye. This one the ring is good but the ceramic is missing. Any thoughts?? I haven't located a ceramic that will fit yet or would have already tried it....
