  1. Try dropping the transducer a little deeper. 1/8" to 1/2". If that doesn't work, it may already be to deep so reverse the process. Also needs to be away from any turbulence created by the hull.
  2. I too was getting water in my tank through the vent tube. I resolved the problem by putting a loop in the tube above the level of the vent hole. That way if water did come in the vent it would run back out instead of flowing to the tank.
