  1. Now I'm stuck. Do I repaint the whole boat or just the sides of the house? If I repaint the whole boat, do I remove the portholes and add nice Slane Marine engine room vents? UGH!
  2. Once we were happy with the fit, we went ahead and got it ready for installation...
  3. A few days later and we're able to test fit the new window panels (frames, whatever you want to call them)...
  4. While the guys are laminating the new window frames, we're going at the boat with sawzalls and hammers!
  5. If you take a close look you'll notice that the new window frames already have pockets for blinds and although the windows have plenty of curves and steep angles, we've made the actual window openings nearly square allowing us to be able to use inexpensive (non custom) blinds.
  6. Once we decided on a shape for the windows, we proceeded with making a temporary mold for the window frames.
  7. I've been away from the forum for a little while, we've been pushing forward with the rehab. I'll post new pics tomorrow. Fantastic section Wiley.
  8. I'm taking the tower off the boat, anyone want it? It's in fantastic shape.
  9. Did you put it back in the water while working on it? Yep. I only had it out of the water for the bottom job. Project finances have changed a little bit as I've purchased a bigger hat to replace this one.
  10. It certainly doesn't look like a broken bolt caused that.
  11. It says the boat was destroyed at the boat ramp in brookhaven, from the looks of the ferry in the background it looks like Port Jeff.
  12. So we got the interior gutted but before we put anything back together we've decided to change the windows on the side of the house to something a little different. I personally hate when people try to put newer hat windows on older hat's, so we decided to do something that was in keeping with the rest of the boats styling but slightly more current. Here are the templates that represent the window profile that we picked...
  13. Let me know when it gets there! What's really disgusting is the kind of garbage that accumulates in places you can't clean over 27 years. People wonder why old boats smell!
  14. I'm told it was a well known charter boat in PB, I've had several people tell me that they fished on this boat before. Regardless, the interior is now COMPLETELY gutted and we've started to derig the tower. Hopefully there's enough $ to build an enclosed bridge! The remaining nasty old hatteras wood is coming out tomorrow.
  15. Here is what the interior looked like, let's just say it was a bit "dogged out"
  16. if there is different people as much as needs to be... That is one fuggly window line. Why would they do that. Why dont they call it ferrettis folly. leave the bertram name, to die an honorable death if so be. Poweryacht you are always saying you have nothing to do with ferretti and you are always championing ferretti bertram? I am one of those former bertram, bertram owners that would never ever look twice at a ferretti bertram. I have nothing against ureopean Ideas. I am building a ureo transom on my 233. But they have made the bertram unattractive atleast to Americans. They need a new R&D department and maybe some new management. He's trolling for Ferretti group ad dollars for his blog. BTW, power blog guy who is relentlessly spamming all the different forums with nonsense, HOW MANY BERTRAMS HAVE YOU OWNED? Just one in the 70s I guess I typed an owners there with an S only one Two blackfins a 24 an a 25 many 233 formulas, a jarret bay and many other twin diesel carolina express and FB. I guess I am a boat addict. Oh seacrafts and one roballo and a couple small whalers I'm sorry Bly, that question was directed to the powerblog guy.

  18. No worries. I had some questions regarding a 23' Intrepid called the "viper" but it looks like it was before your time there.
  19. Cool! What years did you work for intrepid?
  20. At some point in the last 15 years, I've stopped using boats and enjoying them the conventional way, the only enjoyment I get out of them right now is tearing them apart and putting them back together. Perhaps one day I'll use a boat again!
  21. For those of us who don't know who you work for, would you be so kind to tell us?
  22. Cool. Direct me to the correct section and I'll post away. The subject boat is a towered 1982 55' Hatteras with twin 12v71's. We've gutted the interior (down to bare glass) and are currently working on a new cabin window design, if the budget allows we're gonna make it an enclosed bridge as well.
