I don't work for Garmin ...... they will come via a software upgrade ... the lastest for the 500 series is V 4.4 (it can be downloaded from the Garmin site). The images I posted came directly from the Garmin website so I would think the new software release should occur in May sometime.

A look into the near future ...... These displays will migrate to the 400/500 series (users with G2 Vision Charts) because they series use the same software. For those using these units with G2 Vision Charts here are some new screen displays.

The conditions were a little snooty with the wind blowing 20 + from the SSW all day and the fishing was hit and miss. We departed the dock at 3:45 am heading for the Rise (51 miles SSE of Morehead City NC and had the first lines in the water just before sunrise. Our first two mahi were in the box 15 minutes later. We caught 7 mahi and 1 wahoo over the next 7 hours. From the Rise we trolled 25 miles south working a temp break toward the Scallope Beds. There we four other boats out there with us. They managed to catch a release one blue marlin and four mahi. Thanks to Capt Shane and mate Brad of the Fightin -n- Lady. We running a 10 line spread with teasers on each hip. 2 + 2 on the outriggers 3 flatlines, one deep planer, and a two line staggered shotgun (bridge) configuration. The shotgun setup was spaced a 100 & 150 yards. We started at the Rise and trolled south along the break to the Scallop Beds then back to the Rise. The bite has been in 22 to 26 fathoms of water. Pretty day on the water but it was like a washing machine. Brad did great job keeping the spread active and clear during hookups! Water temps varied 72 to 77.6 and as usual the stream was a vivid crystal deep blue color. Bottomline ... it's great to fish with good friends and a great crew! Fishing from the decks the Barbara B a 64' Sportman owned by a friend of mine ........ Great guy and fisherman for sure. The BlueFins were actually caught off Cape Lookout at 210 Rock about 25 miles south of Morehead City NC. Enjoy ... not many days you get two on deck and off to market. BlueFins Times Two Hell why not ..... some fall yellowfin tuna fishing out of Oregon Inlet. Sea N Double ...... Living on the waterway is not as bad as you think ...... our piece of ground/house has been in our family since 1960 (my Dad paid $3000 for it 150' x 200'). There was much more commercial traffic in the 60's and 70's now most of it is weekend warriors. I can tell some stories. Bottomline ...... it given our family and friends so many wonderful memories that will forever be etched in our hearts and minds. Just can't beat living on the water. Yes, make sure you get a wide angle lense because if you don't your field of view will be limited. You can pick one up for under $100.00. Good investment.

Thanks ... glad everyone enjoyed them ... my 1st and only mate Cheryl sure enjoy doing them. Joe ... I use a Panasonic HD video camera with a 30 gb hd that I connect to a Gripper sunction mount. We just turn the camera on when we're fishing. Here's what it looks like on the boat. http://www.filmtools.com/gripper-3025-suct...mera-mount.html The best thing about the Gripper is it's three demensional ... in other words you can mount it and change the plane of the camera three different ways. It gives you alot of options and where to place it to shoot video. It has never released accidentially when filming and believe me I've put it to the test running hard and getting beat up pretty good.

My experience with the 850 has been using one on my friends boat. With that said I have an ICOM M72. Here's a comparison of what I've seen. The SH 850 has a smalled battery L1150 mAH that equates to about 9 hours of use depending on how you have the GPS settings selected. It has a 6 watt transmit capacity and has DSC functionality including position polling. It floats too. The ICOM M72 has a bigger battery L2000 mAH that equated to about 15-16 hours of use (5% transmit/5 receive/90% standby). It has a 6 watt transmit capacity but does not have DSC functionality. It is rated IPX8 in other words you can submerge it. Both units have crystal clear sound and are rugged when it comes to everyday use. I know my M72 has been beat up pretty good. Either way you go your getting terrific products from either vendor.

The SH 850 is a terrific handheld. It will give you years of good service.
