  1. Pete, Was there a filter that you had replaced that was in the carb?

    If so, a common problem with the symptoms you have is a piece of crud keeping the needle and seat in the float bowl from closing.

    The way to check is to look down the carb when it is running in the idle position. No fuel should be comming out of the main jets in the airhorn.

    The correction is to starve the carb out of fuel when running by squeezing off a rubberline between the fuel pump and carb. Before it totally dies out, unclamp the fuel line and a burst of fuel will blow the debri off of the needle and seat.

    If this desn't help you, I hope it can help someone else.

  2. Lots of great info guys. Just a couple extra tidbits.

    Their are only 3 battery manufactures left in the U.S.(Stay away from china batteries)

    Deka, Excide, and Johnson controls. No matter what the sticker says on it, One of these made it.

    Some other batt. info on state of charge.

    12.6v=100% charge

    12.4v=75%

    12.2v=50%

    12.0v=25%

    11.8v or less=discharge

    Just something to keep in mind while whatching your voltmeter when sitting still.
