Anyone else out there fishing for them this year? I was out last weekend and small several small pods of Tarpon rolling in the lake. Anyone seeing any at the traditional early season places like the Rigolets, Cat Island, Horn Island, Unknown Pass, or Chef Pass? The pogies, mullet, & croaker are thick in the lake right now and with the dry spell, lack of fresh water from runoff, and the abundance of bait from last years flushing out of the predator fish from the spillway opening this should be one of the best tarpon seasons in 20 years. From here until 1st week of October we should be in for some serious fishing. Would appreciate reports if anyone sees them rolling this year especially in late July & August so I can target them at night. If you do fish for them in the lake have, has anyone successfully caught one off the Highway 90 bridge?
