I recently purchased a new, leftover 2008 21' boat. I did not get a survey. Probably should have but I'll deal with it, I guess. On a demo boat, especially a $200K boat like a 31' EdgeWater, I would definitely get a survey. The $400 you spend on the survey will be the cheapest thing you ever buy for that boat!

My wife and I closed on a new boat last week. After selling our prior boat in '07, I had been shopping semi-seriously this summer and the dealer made this boat too tempting to pass up. It's the end of the season here in MA but we'll take delivery in April.
