  1. Tks, Welder. The local dealers here only have a phone number for the Canadian Distributor that services them. I called the distributor - no luck there. I'll try long distance info.
  2. Would anyone here have a telephone number for Lund Boats? They ignore repeated email messages, and they do not list a phone number on their web site. I am looking for a part number for pedestals for seats on my Explorer. The local dealer believes that they could be one of three part numbers. If I order the wrong one, I still pay. I assume that Lund can tell me which I need. Thank you
  3. MrPat I would love forward looking sonar, but as you say, I could spend more than the boat is worth. :-) The Lowrance sometimes sees bottom at the speeds I travel, but not always. And, I'm not a speed demon by any means. I'm not looking for something to compensate for abject stupidity, just something that is reliable and accurate.
  4. Thanks, Nelson. My GPS is much more basic than that. Most of the wrecks that I dive are written up and I have the coordinates, so I just need/have an inexpensive unit. My grief comes from sudden changes in depth in the St Lawrence River. The walls quite literally drop off from a couple of feet to 180'. Since the walls were man made when the seaway was created, they are shear cliffs. Add to that boulders that are all over the place and it's a maze to navigate. This year, it is even worse because the water level is way down. I got a small electric trolling motor on Ebay that will help a lot, but I'd still like something better than the cheap Lowrance.
  5. I have a 16' Lund Explorer. It came with a low priced Lowrance on it, and it's still there. I'm not a fisherman; my primary use for the boat it getting me to spots to scuba dive. I'm paranoid about hitting underwater obstacles. Part of that paranoia comes from hitting underwater obstacles in previous boats and pranging props. I would appreciate hearing from members with advice on a first rate depth sounder. I would like to say that money is no object, but I would like to keep the cost at $500 +-. I don't need GPS built in. I have a Garmin that's good enough for my purposes. Thanks much Grant
  6. They cannot have cared much about our opinions. After only 6 days of their post, the survey is closed and there is not way to view the video.
  7. The rider must be a boy scout. Their motto is "be prepared".
  8. I've had success using a shop vac hose. If you can feed the cables through the end, go that route. If not, just split the hose cover the cables and use black tape every 6" or so to close it up.
  9. A buddy has a Lund 18 foot Tyree. He has the Humminbird 917C combo fish finder/gps on it. It has not worked properly since he got it. He has tried 3 different transducers, but no help. He will be trolling at about 2 mph with the depth finder working well. Then, the depth will show to be 2 feet. Sometimes, the unit will find bottom again. Most times, he has to shut the unit down, then restart. It finds bottom immediately on restart. The transducer is clean. He has routed the lead from the transducer to the head away from any other electronics. Has anyone had a similar problem that they have solved? Thanks much Grant Ottawa ON
