  1. hey...my name is randall. live in springs and keep the boat in various places around the east end. i have a bunch of friends with bertram 31s and fish offshore with them. the avatar shot was taken with a bunch of bertram guys in panama.....i'm 61.
  2. thats what i keep tellin my wife about the house cat.... "if she was big enough she would eat YOU"
  3. for 14 years we had a 95 pound malamutt (malamute, black lab). the quietest ,gentlest, friendliest dog there ever was. friend had a JR. watching the two have a tug of war over a stick was a sight to behold. the JR would not let go no matter what. picked up off the ground and spun around in the air...no matter...and managed to growl the entire time.
  4. yep ...we had to catch 60 to keep 16...and that was 4 per and 19.5 inches. now out of those 60..maybe 8....oh thats right ... 2 per.
  5. mako steve...you're not gonna see this this year....the regs are a joke....plus they cut a month out right in the middle of the season...yikes!! (i already know you recognize where this is)
  6. i just posted on that "other" forum for the first time in a year. the point i was making before the thread disappeared (and you wonder why i left) was that no site is "home". most people visit more than one . no two are the same. that said i am more than happy to follow what ever guild lines you set...its your house and im a guest.
  7. RJ....i am having a lot of trouble (even more than usual) spelling lately.
  8. FBC...two bertram sites ,a wood carving site and now this site.......but ive been known to go surfing.
  9. hey...yeah...this is fun...hope everyone has a great season!!
  10. i live in springs....a little town north of amagansett.....almost to montauk.
  11. just noticed you were reading the same thread at the same time....this whole thing is a little big brotherish.

  12. i dunno...i remember discussing the fact on the cell phone with a friend that i was breakin four laws at once coming home from surfing last summer. technically it was five as i was barefoot but they never enforce that one. seriously....how about personal responsibility.....less nanny state hall monitors. if you get in an accident talking on your phone you deserve stiffer consequences. if you cant walk and chew gum at the same time......dont.
  13. not me...i like a hard bulkhead i can back up to and back my truck up to also. easiest to transfer rods , tools , coolers and the like.
  14. hey...dont get me wrong....the idea has gone through my head as far as the canoe and kayak. there is a very popular wind surfing ,kite surfing spot near hear.....definitely has possibilities and would probably be doing it myself except my garage looks like a sporting goods store as it is. there is only so much time.
  15. assuming its windy. ive spent a few very uncomfortable days in big glassy seas on sailboats with no engines just drifting along. up down up down. it is a pretty novel and creative idea however. as long as you want to go down wind....im thinkin the contender isnt going to want to reach let alone run into the wind. a kicker might be a better solution.
  16. glass is fun but not really necessary. it is almost never glassy here. i see you're really liking the kayak thing.
  17. ive only done it a few times but it is a lot of fun. you have the right boat and the right water. now snowboarding....33 years. yikes im old!!
  18. no brainer for me.......the inboards. ive had both (3 I/O boats)and will never own I/Os again in salt. my engines are 25 years old and run fine....chrysler 360 heavy duty truck engines. RJ.....sorry....i guess you already knew that.
  19. wake boarding is fun for children of all ages...if you get my drift. the tow behinds are a hoot too....see if you can dump em off.
  20. i spend a lot of time on the bertram 31 site and would always recommend it for bertram questions but i think there was a 35 site also. charlie is a good source for sure.
  21. i use 3M finess-it with a slow buffer. hull is 40 years old and looks new from 25 feet away. once a year job but probably more if in a hotter climate.
