  1. Hey scarabchris do you deal OEM? I might be interested in your lights for Canyon Bay Boats.
  2. Hey Wiley, it was good to see you at the Canyon Bay Booth at the show. At Canyon Bay we are seeing alot of people come from bigger center consoles and coming into our 23 and 24 foot bay boats. Since we have bought the old Sportcraft facility in Perry, Fl we are now working on coming out with low, middle and upper priced boats. We want to cover all the bases when it comes to buying a boat. Our smallest boat will be a 18' traditional flats boat and we will offer offshore models (Strike Yachts) from 29 to 44'. Plus the bay boats we have to offer. They are some signs of things getting better. But I think most of you have the idea about what the boating industry is going through. People seem to complain about the pricing of boats and yes I believe that there are alot of boats that are overpriced. It all goes into the detail and fit and finish in a boat and the cost of the materials. Like someone said, the materials keep rising in cost. Our Vinyl ester resin and gel coat have risen another .06 cents a pound! It's even worse up here in the northern areas. I went to a local show last weekend, and the dealers seem to be predominantly pushing the smaller boats. In years past the niche was for mid-size boats in the 22'-26' range, but this year there was very little of those sizes and the majority fell in the 18'-22' category. I think in our area the smaller boats are the only thing keeping some of the dealers afloat.
  3. But on the other side of it, that is cost of doing business and to even remotely get the business sometimes you have to bite the bullet. I am not saying you are wrong but that is something you have to do at times. I work with a boat company also and we did a sea trial fishing trip with potential customers. Ended up putting us over the top and getting the business. Where the other company did a sea trial and that was it. It helped that the boat was a better boat than the other companies. Yes I bit the bullet for the boat company on the charter but it helped sell a boat. That is money that was not there before but now is. How much would have it cost you to take the boat and sea trial it for the potential client? As a potential buyer would you want to put a deposit on a boat that you have not sea trialed?
  4. How can Canyon Bay be a knockoff of the YF? Nowhere are they close to being the same boat. Not in any of the classes. Yes Canyon Bay vacuum infuses their hulls and use vinyl ester resins also but that is not a knockoff of YF's. That just means that both companies are building a strong boat.
  5. All those are nice boats. Take a look at Canyon Bay Boats. www.canyonbayboats.com The new 2400 series is perfect for what you are looking for.
  6. My Maui Jims were horrible. They broke at the nose bridge. I LOVE MY COSTAS! I would never own another pair.
  7. Now I know why you always talk good about the the e-tecs dog! Me personally I would stay away from the e-tec but that is just my opinion!
