  1. novel idea that perhaps is a slight improvement on what is already does the job (wing nuts, nylocks, nuts). i wouldn't mind them myself, but it would depend on price. If they are less than $7/pair i may consider, any more and i'll stick with the SS washer and nuts. I got 3 batteries so costs are x3. just went and checked their website >>> on sale for $15/pair. Sorry, i'll keep my $45 for something else. the only benefit i see is that with the taller stem, there will be much less chance of the knob/grip interfering with the crimped cable terminals as sometimes it can be very tight especially with wing nuts. oh, no tools required is a plus too. Also, the need for a washer or fender washer looks be eliminated and so one less item to worry about and lose. Q: how often does one remove the wires/cables off their battery to make it worth while switching to these battery knobs? IMO, not often enough to warrant what already works fine. also, the use of nylocks may be better as they would be less prone to loosening with vibration as the battery knobs do not look like they have that feature. Useful item, but the price needs to be lower to motivate buyers IMO.
  2. whats the story. was it stolen, stripped, and recovered?
  3. very nice! can you explain why manufacturers or buyers would want a canvas top vs. a hardtop? IMO, the hardtops look much nicer, a more polished finish look, quieter for crew when raining, and should last longer too.
  4. Woodsie, you have nice tastes. I was dreaming of the exact same boat, except with a different tender. Santa, i've been very good boy too, so if the elves are making one for Woodsie, would you make one for me too?
  5. lots of rules broken and fun had and no-one hurt which is fortunate, but i'm not recommending this kinda stuff be the norm as it will eventually lead to trouble and people hurt. what's up with the glass beer bottles? too too easy to knock out at tooth or get a black eye in those conditions!
  6. i don't use a spinner much if ever anymore (but have had my share of spin reels for fresh water stuff years ago). i've never had much issue of bird's nesting a spinning reel so i don't seem much value in this new invention. I normally use conventional and casting reels which can bird's nest even to the best of us at times and i've found only a good educated thumb works best. Are there any draw backs to this rim design?
  7. 2 very wrong things i see and must question: #1 what kind of junk transom can't handle a small antique OB? #2 what the frig is up with the "mankini"? must be in europe? My answer is that boating and "mankinis" should not be mixed. Boating and hot women in bikinis is awesomeness!
  8. there's the "conventional" stuff that definitely works for salmon and halibut, but i myself wouldn't mind a box of "new" stuff to try out. I love to experiment and learn and often tackle introduced from different fisheries can be fun. For example some butterfly jigs with assist hooks (try circle hooks too on these!). spreaders or umbrella rigs for trolling to try, luminous products for deep drops, big tomic plugs, etc.
  9. well when you're on a boat you need your flippy floppies! cause you're on a boat!
  10. myself, i decided to stay with Furuno when upgrading the plotter since the existing stuff was already Furuno. Aside from that factor of aesthetics, the NN3D product is performing very well for me and has been pretty easy to learn. A very important factor is also service. Furuno service is truly awesome and second to none IMO. My experience with Raymarine is a happy one too, but feel Furuno service is a bit better. Furuno unfortunately is on the higher end in price. Avoid Navico stuff as their service is nearly non-existent (simrad, Lowrance, northstar, navman, eagle).
  11. I don't own one, but have taken a good ride on Billy's Freeman 33 with twin F350's. Very impressive boat and the engines were impressive too. Love the sound of those babies! I'd rather have twin F350's than trip F250's IMO.
  12. Great boat at a great price on a trailer and ready to roll! Where were you last year? I bought a GW282 but did consider the 31FA but couldn't find one. WHere's the boat located? any inside, cockpit and console pics?
  13. this is a common problem on yami's which i've had and still have at times when i forget to lube the sensor. Tilt the motor up, look for a depressed (as it's always stuck in the closed position) "plunger" type sensor close to the hinge point on one side that usually will come down on the engine mounting bracket. Get some penetrating oil or WD40 and spray and spray and spray and gently work that sucker down. It should be spring loaded and after lubing, be free to move as the engine tilts. your gauge should now read correctly the position of the engine(s). this reminds me to spray some lube on the sensors before i take the boat out again.
  14. Just sold my fresh water boat last week: 2003 Thunderjet Luxor with 175 Mercury Sportjet Now just a one boat guy again. 2002 282 Grady Sailfish F225's.
