    I have not seen any fading with my black starboard dash, it's been one year since I put it in but I do keep the boat covered. Yes it's worked just like wood, you can router the edges and cut it using a circular saw or table saw. Note: If screwing into the board you must predrill it first ot it could crack. My electronics looks great with the black background.
