  1. Amen Brother! I call it the wussification of America. Too damn many metrosexuals out there now.
  2. I just wanted to share my latest project. I have been wanting to improve the look of my console since I bought the boat. I found a guy up North that said he would laser cut me a new panel but once I attempted to get him to do it, he "lost" my pattern, and went up on his price. I said the hell with him and decided to do it myself. I attached pictures of the old console and the "new" one. As you can see, I added some gauges. Now the fun part comes, figuring out how to wire all this stuff up. Anyway, just wanted to share and show what most of us are capable of if we put our minds to it.
  3. I will be needing to buy some new tires for my 06 Tundra in the next couple of months. I have been less than impressed with the Bridgestones that came on it (no traction, have not worn well despite balancing/rotating every 5,000)so I am looking for input from all of you "experts" out there. I do most of my driving on streets, so I don't need anything super aggressive but, something that rides well and has some traction on boat ramps would be nice. Also, how many of you have bought online and had them installed locally? Is that a bigger pain than it is worth? Some of the prices are really good. Any input appreciated. Thanks!

  5. I refuse to watch any of those or any "reality" shows. I keep hoping people will get tired of all that crap and the networks may actually start creating shows worth watching again. Thank God my wife does not watch any of those shows so she doesn't try to "make" me watch them either.
  6. Hold a lit match under the stream and it is even more effective. The one thing I would worry about seriously is what kind of damage it does (long-lasting). Pepper spray is designed specifically to be sprayed into eyes with no permanent damage. Wasp spray is not and in this litigious society, it could get you sued even though you were defending yourself. Sad that you have to think about such things but that is the way our society has become.
  7. Wow, my life is not near as sucky as I thought it was. Thanks!
  8. I hate the adjustment from and to but, all things being equal, I prefer DST to non-DST. I can eat dinner and still have light to goof around outside.
  9. DO NOT use a shop-vac. You would be sucking up gas and fumes into an electrical device. I think most of us would prefer not to read about you being a 2010 Darwin Award winner. I am sure someone on this site can give you a safe alternative to removing all tainted gas. I just did not want to see you get hurt. Good luck.
  10. I replaced my 2x10x8 bunks last year (they were 7 years old) and I only replaced the bunks themselves because I was replacing the carpet. The bunks were actually okay, just thought since I was doing it, I'd put new wood on as well. Replaced the bunk supports, hubs, springs, etc.. Trailer is practically new now. Never had roller bunks but they just somehow don't seem right for fiberglass plus it would seem you would have more to maintain.
  11. The wife and kids have been asking me to take them to the Keys for the last couple of years. Well I think we are going to do it this Summer. I have not been down in 15 years and I imagine somethings have changed. I am looking for something 2 BR/2 BA (1 bath would work) on either a beach or canal. I have not yet decided if I want to drag the boat down (I want to to but will have to think about that) but having the option of docking out front/back would be nice. The wife and I are regular working stiffs (cop and teacher) so luxury is not an option and fortunately all she requires is neat and clean, fancy is not in her vocabulary. I know there are a lot of travelers on this site so, if you are aware of something I might find interesting, I would appreciate any input. Thanks!
  12. Bought mine using a home equity line. 3.25% and tax deductible.
  13. Don't let PETA find out, mice are people too!
  14. I am looking at a hand held GPS and considering the following: Garmin Colorado 400c Garmin Oregon 400 c Lowrance ifinder H2Oc I would like to know if anyone has any experience with any of these as I am having a hard time selecting one from them. Thanks
  15. Ordered 2 on Monday and came home yesterday to find them on my front porch. These are really nice and comfortable. I got an extra one for my oldest son. My wife is happy because now I will wear one when I am out fishing alone. Yes, I know, I should always wear one, especially when I am alone. Thanks again for the heads up.
  16. Sweet deal, I just bought a manual one from bass pro for 89.00. It will be going back. Just ordered 2 auto-inflate. Thanks for the heads up!
  17. A Virginia State trooper pulled a car over on I-64 about 2 miles south of the Virginia/West Virginia State line. When the trooper asked the driver why he was speeding, the driver said he was a Magician and Juggler and was on his way to Beckley WV to do a show at the Shrine Circus. He didn't want to be late. The trooper told the driver he was fascinated by juggling and said if the driver would do a little juggling for him then he wouldn't give him a ticket. He told the trooper he had sent his equipment ahead and didn't have anything to juggle. The trooper said he had some flares in the trunk and asked if he could juggle them. The juggler said he could, so the trooper got 5 flares, lit them and handed them to him. While the man was juggling, a car pulled in behind the patrol car. Lee, drunken good old boy from West Virginia got out, watched the performance, then went over to the patrol car, opened the rear door and got in. The trooper observed him and went over to the patrol car, opened the door asking the drunk what he thought he was doing. The drunk replied, 'You might as well take my ass to jail, cause there ain't no way I can pass that test.'
  18. The family wants to go down to Busch Gardens in April and I am fine with that. Figure we'll do the theme park a couple of days but after that, not sure what else there is to do in the area. A few years ago we did Tampa then went to Sanibel , canoed in the mangroves, etc.. and loved it but, this time we do not want to have to pack up and move in the middle of the week. What else is a should/must do within an hour or so of Tampa? Thanks
  19. Way to go, nice gesture. I do not however think you will build your site base in Haiti.
  20. There are scammers and schemers every where you look today. I was paying some bills last month online and while going over my Mastercard account noticed my balance was over $4,000.00. I knew it was no where near that high so began investigating and called USAA who issued the card. Turns out that someone charged over $3,500.00 on my card at a heavy equipment sales/rental shop in Broussard. LA. Don't know how they got my account # but fortunately USAA took care of everything. You have to be vigilant today.
  21. I don't know if you have made your final decision and will not try to sway you either way. I can see both sides to this discussion. Reelboating sounds a little more professional and it is what everyone is used to but, Joeboater sounds homey and welcoming to someone with a 14 jonboat up to anything else. It may be boater envy on my part but it appears that most of the people on this site are larger/fancier/more expensive boat owners whereas I own an 18' CC and am an intermediate, recreational boater. I can see where running across a website called joeboater.com would seem welcoming to someone such as myself whereas it might not seem as welcoming to an advanced owner of a large expensive boat. Just my 2 cents.
  22. My wife loves to go boating but I would faint if SHE ever saw a boat and said, "hey, let's get that boat". Jump on it dude.
  23. I don't watch any of that s**t. Reality TV is anything but.
