  1. Great looking rig. If I only had another $190,000 I'd buy one. Maybe one of the wealthier boaters on here will buy one and report in on how it performs.
  2. I received my bottle yesterday, just wanted to say thank you.
  3. PM sent, oh I hope I win.............................I never win anything.
  4. The family and I are heading down to the Key Largo area in July and plan on doing some snorkeling. I had a couple of questions. 1.) We are staying on the Atlantic side (inside Largo Sound). Are there some good/shallow reefs close enough to get out (safely) to them in a 17' cc? 2.) What is the law in Fla. regarding a Diver Down flag? Can I display one from a pole on the boat when we are anchored and snorkeling from the boat or does it have to be a floating flag? Thanks!
  5. If you don't get any answers here, try Charlestonfishing.com in the Grand Strand section.
  6. I installed some new gauges and switches on my console. The switches came with no instructions and I guess I am just not smart enough to figure them out. There are 3 switches, 2 ON-OFF (Courtesy Lights and Accessories) and 1 Momentary (Horn). The switch faces all have a small light at the bottom and a bigger light at the top that lights up when the switch is activated (I suppose). Each switch has the same configuration of 4 posts on which to place female spade plugs but other than the numbers 1 - 4, no indication of what goes where. Looking at the back of the switch, there are 2 posts on the left side (1, 2, 3 vertical) and 1 post(4)on the right side. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
  7. I stumbled upon a website called ioffer.com. There are Garmin Bluechart g2 Vision Cards for $99. As most of you know, these retail for $259. I have read reviews that are both good and bad, the bad being mostly about fake handbags, clothes and that kind of stuff. I am buying anew combo unit and a g2 card but, if this site is legit, would buy one of Florida and the keys as you can't beat the price. Has anyone used this site and if so, what was your experience? Thanks

  9. Just when you can't think of another way to get screwed. I am not sure what the law is specifically but, it seems to me, a lien is a lien. Regardless of how it is encumbered, you cannot title the boat until you payoff the taxes. I would definitely go back to the seller and discuss this with him. Unfortunately, you probably will not get anything resolved without getting an attorney.
  10. I am in the market for a combo gps/sonar unit. Probably going to buy a Garmin GPSMAP 441s. Right now, if you buy the Garmin Bluechart g2 Vision Card ($269.99) when you buy the combo unit, you get a $200 rebate. In essence, you get the g2 card for $70. Has anyone out there used this card? Is it worth it, or is it mostly fluff? I am an inshore fisherman who never ventures more than a couple miles off the coast. Thank
  11. I have a Garmin Fishfinder 160 Blue on a 17' skiff. I really want a Chartplotter/GPS. I have toyed with the idea of buying a hand held like a Colorado or an Oregon but, wonder if I would not be better off buying a newer Sounder/Chartplotter instead. My budget is around $500 and for that it would appear a Garmin GPSMAP 440s or 441s would fit that budget. My questions are: 1. Should I just get a hand held, be happy and keep using my old fishfinder? 2. If I buy a combo unit, the existing transducer from my 160 Blue will work (according to Garmin). Is this a good idea or should I spring for a new transducer? 3. What is the difference between the 440s and 441s? 4. You can get a $200 rebate by buying the Garmin g2 Vision card. Is this a smart buy? (I fish inshore only so don't know if this is worth it or not) I am sorry for all of the questions but, I do not know much about these things (trying to learn) and I don't want to buy something and then find out I made a bad purchase. I am taking my boat to the Keys this Summer so I really want a decent chartplotter as the waters are unfamiliar to me. Thanks for all input.
  12. I don't know if they can do it but check out gregsmarinewiresupply.com. I have bought from them a couple of times and they deliver really quick and are good folks to deal with.
  13. We have talked about it for a couple of years now and have finally decided to do it. We are heading down to Key Largo for a week in July. We found a great house with dockage on a canal that leads into Largo Sound. I boat/fish mainly on the SC coast and know that conditions are probably a good bit different in the Keys (shallower, coral, etc..). I am looking for any information, guidelines, tips from you Old salts on fishing, boating and snorkeling in that area. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
  14. Cool, I am trying to finish up a gauge panel redo and the LED's ought to last forever.
  15. I have a novel idea, don't break the law, and stay out of jail. Gee, that should not be too hard to figure out. I have been in LE for 23 years. I can't tell you how many thugs have stated that doing time "ain't no big thing". The problem is that "doing time" is too damn easy. Make it awful, maybe some of these idiots would try to stay out of trouble, who knows.
  16. Hey, a lot of people actually thought Obummer would be a good president. These are probably the same people that thought the video was real.
  17. Another great thing that comes from Africa...............................scams.
  18. Oh man, the govt. just added you to their list.
  19. My family and I will be in the Tampa area next week, staying in a house on the Little Manatee River. We are not really going specifically to fish but are taking a few rods and some gear to goof around while we have some down time. If anyone has any words of wisdom, good spots to fish from the shore or tips on rigs/bait, I would appreciate any such information. Thanks
  20. I thought about putting it on top of the console but it will tilt so if I am standing I can tilt it up. It was already mounted low by the previous owner, I just moved it over because the steering wheel blocked it. I had not thought of corian, not sure how it would do after a lot of exposure to the sun.
  21. Can't help you with #1 but, Columbia Sportswear has pants I believe you are looking for. I also bought some a while ago with elastic and a built-in strap belt from Sportsmans Guide.
