  1. I'll second Defender.com. Great selection, very good prices, and excellent service.
  2. WOW!! Tried it out and that app is absolutely sick! Some serious programming went into that deal.
  3. Cool, I'd heard about that one but didn't know the name. I am such an app ######.
  4. Depends what you mean by "appreciable" I guess. There certainly are keel pads on the GB -- I've spent enough time scrubbing barnacles off them to know. In any case, a 22' hull that will do 27 kts with 230 hp just isn't a full displacement boat.
  5. The iPhone rocks. I was worried about ATT's coverage too, but I've found it's actually better than Verizon's in Miami.
  6. Pretty cool. I've got a number of boating related apps that are actually useful. TideGraph, AnchorAlarm, and Navionics for backup GPS. GoSkyWatch is very cool for star gazing.
  7. I have the 2000 and have run it outside in the midst of two hurricanes. Don't worry about the rain.
  8. I ownd a GB for several years. They may call it a displacement boat but the truth is that it's semi-displacement, albeit one with less design emphasis placed on high speed operation than the WC. A true displacement boat will be more efficient than a semi-displacement or planing boat at displacement speeds (and most likely at any speed).
  9. I follow the Fins 'cause I'm in Miami, but I've been a Skins fan since I could walk.
  10. I've got 200' of 3/8". Most times I don't even need the anchor.
  11. Thank God the Redskins didn't get him. The feking idiot owner and GM tried their best to swap a promising, strong-armed, young QB who throws few interceptions, plus three high draft picks they don't have, for a strong-armed, young QB who throws lots of interceptions. Good deal for the Bears, though, since they didn't have a QB worth the name.
  12. Far as I can tell the Eagles aren't even in the hunt. Redskins seem most likely ... ######.
  13. Not exactly -- I had another login that got banned shortly after I revealed it on FCB. No doubt someone from THT lurking over there saw my post and ... BOOM. No loss as I was only checking out THT every couple months anyway.
  14. This forum, FCB, and a bunch of computer graphics forums. Just got banned from THT for the second time.
  15. Sad news. Coincidentally I was talking with someone who has a house on Chub Kay last week. The residents there are not happy about that development going up, and it's apparently been abandoned for some time due to the economy.
  16. I like AGM, but you should be aware that you will have to adjust the regulator on your battery charger if you switch from lead to AGM. Otherwise you'll get less performance and battery life than you should. Lifeline is another good AGM brand.
  17. One thing I've learned is that it works better to apply light pressure with the brush than to try to muscle the dirt out. If you bear down it just flattens out the bristles and they don't get into the fine crevices in the nonskid pattern.
  18. Marelon for me. Not as pretty as chrome but it won't discolor and no worries about corrosion.
  19. I agree. Gelcoat is a helluva lot harder than the clear coat on a car. Just keep the buffer moving and you'll be fine.
  20. Regular boat soap or car wash and for stains, barkeepers friend or soft scrub with bleach. I've tried the Starbrite and Woody nonskid products and I don't think they're worth a damn.
  21. Unless the boat is nearly new the original gelcoat color won't match, because the gelcoat will have faded. The key to color matching is to test your pigment mix on a properly prepared section of the hull, which means a section that you have wet sanded to bring back as much of the original color as possible. So, mix up your color, apply it to the prepared area, and make very small adjustments until you get a perfect (or near-perfect match). When you apply the gelcoat to the repair it won't quite match (unless you've sanded or compounded the whole boat), but within a relatively short period of time the repair will fade to match the rest of the boat. Got this advice from Precision Fiberglass DVDs sold at Amazon -- a guy who's been specializing in fiberglass repair for over 30 years and used to sell (maybe still does?) a pigment matching kit. It works.
  22. I'll take floating any time. You can set your lines and fenders and not have to worry about leaving extra slack for tides.
  23. I haven't tried the 3M stuff ScarabChris recommended, but I know that Woody's Ultra Gloss works great. I'm starting to sound like a Woody Wax ho.
