  1. Got mine the other day. Will be adding to the tank tomorrow.
  2. Went on and signed up today. Printed my temp until the real one arrives. So now does everyone on board my boat need one?
  3. I would say that if they are already cracked and splitting that they are beyond saving. Once they tear it just gets worse, they dry out more split open get water in then and rot from the foam out. There several places you can get replacements for decent prices. Lots of styles to pick from. You might even find used ones out there but for the few dollars more, I recommend new. Then buy a cover for them and 303 them after every cleaning.
  4. OK, maybe I am slow but I am confused. I hear all this talk about now having to get a license to fish in the bay and ocean in New jersey. I read the "official" site and to me it looks like I do not actually have to get a license. I am not commercial, I actually really don't catch many fish as it is unfortunatly, but if I gotta have a license well then so be it. I normally don't really target any species. I just go out and see what's biting and have a little fun. I rarely keep what I catch either. So, in simple terms, what's the real scoop?
  5. I caught a glimse of the dredge sitting in Townsends Inlet last weekend and it looked like the pipes ran across the entire or most of the channel. Anyone else been down there and run out the inlet recently? I didn't have time to look closer but at a glance it looked like the inlet was blocked. Also has anyone tried Corsen's inlet since they dredged it last year? I never liked that one and rarely see boats passing through but maybe after the dredging it may be better?
  6. PM sent Welcome to the boards! I will gladly report back on my findings. Thanks for the opportunity!
  7. No objections here. The NE regional is way to slow. If it saves space and will help make it easier on your end, go for it.
  8. I know there are several products out there to keep birds off the boat. I have been lucky enough so far not to have to deal with it but here is one I thought might do the job. http://www.birdfreeboats.com/
  9. Sooooo..... if you will nto use it, maybe you might give a brotha boater a good deal?
  10. I stumbled on to this. Now that's one good dog
  11. I am considering a small grille for the boat this year. Probably a rod holder mounted one.It will not be used every time I go out but maybe a few times this year so I don't want to spend a small fortune on one. Storage space is at a premium and I don't want something that will be rattling around in the hold all day and end up falling apart in short order. Who has what, how do you like it? How do you store it and all the usual questions that go along with.
  12. This would have been better posted in the Boating Forum insetad of pictures, though that's a great pic you have there. A quick google search came up with this http://www.boat-ed.com/mo/
  13. This kind of confuses me: US Coast Guard has been informed of the incident. It is not clear if any actions will be taken to track down and remove the buoy that has caused the incident. I would think that the USCG would be very interested in One-getting this obviously rather large floating hazard out of the water Two-Get this aid to navigation back in place to do what it was meant to do Three-collect what is probably a fairly expensive item that is drifting away with our tax dollars. Why would they not want to track it down and remove it? Also don't the larger ones have electronics in them for relaying information or warnings if there is trouble with the bouy?
  14. ReelBoatingTV? now that oughta be good! Looking forward to that one I would be OK with the merging but maybe keep the "photos" forum on its own. Sometimes I like to just browse through the photos without sorting through a lot of text. Normally while on the phone at work.
  15. It IS real. It happened to my neighbors cousins Uncle's brother in law. Really, I swear it did. If it's on the interweb it must be real. right? If anyone is offended by it then they need to get off the computer. Nice photoshop job or whatever you call it for video. And just to clear it up, Big Foot does not exist. Never has, never will. People will beleive anythign these days. Everyone knows it was really just the abominable snow man with a sun tan while on a camping trip.
  16. So is this a Florida East Coast only trip or are you making the trek up north?
  17. Congrats on the new rig and welcome aboard! Looks like a real nice boat. As mentioned, check the gas if it has been sitting. I would go as far as saying drain it, make sure the tank is clean and fill with fresh gas treated with Stabil or Startron or similar. Depending on how long it sat and where the gas came from it could cause issues. Plus if it was a repo, chances are the last owner did not winterize it or prepare the fuel for long term storage. I would spend some time getting to know here. Crawl around every knook and cranny. Clean it inside and out and check her out while you do it. That's how you find potential problems plus you can learn a lot about the boat. I spent days just searching every corner of the boat, cleaning spots that had never been cleaned or even looked at before and putting hands on every component I could to learn what makes her tick. The more you know about her the better. Make sure you post your experiences with your new toy. And don't forget, you can tell us all you caught a lot of fish today but only the ones you post pictures of count
  18. We are replacing the valve in the next week or so. But I guess I should be looking into replacement helms just in case.
  19. Sorry about the mispellings but I posted and tried to edit but could not get the editor to work.
  20. I had posted this on other forums before but never got a clear cut "best way" answer so let's see what teh ReelBoaters think. I have a cat with twin outboards. They are linked with a liquid tie bar. I had lots of problems with them coming out of alignment. We think it was caused byu the tie bar valve bypassing fluid/pressure. I am replacing the valve before splashing this year and hopefully it cures it. the boat stays in the water all season with motors trimmed up when not in use. I had been told I should point the straight and raise them up and leave them that way. The down side is I would show up a week later and one or both motors was leaning to one side and now I had to bleed the system again to get them right. Si I am thinkign maybe I should steer them to one side and lift them and keep them that way. Maybe that will releive pressure and they wont be trying to fall one way or the other. They will be at rest and I "should" have no problems with them falling out of alignment. Or will I? Whats the proper way to store the outboards? straight up or resting to one side? granted there may be another issue a hand but I would think one way or the other will certainly help releive the problem. Maybe put less stress on a known weak part and it might last longer
  21. I have a mooring cover for my boat and it is attached by traditional screwed in snaps around the edges. One has pulled out completely and one is loose now. Whats the best way to fix these to prevent them from coming out again? I can use a larger screw but kind of don't want to make any holes bigger. Can I drop some fiberglas resin in there and insert the screw again and be good to go or will that just pull right out again?
  22. Loaded as fast as the best of them. Good layout too. Impressive resume!
  23. Well said. How bout digital cameras? We actually had film. You had to wait a week after you got home to see your vacation pictures. Remember encylcopedias? Yep, no Googling and clicking and scrolling for our high school homework. we actually had to look it up and read it. Not copy and paste the answers.
  24. I currently have 19 unit's still available at this special offer I ordered mine today. I will post the install results when I get it done. Stay tuned.
