  1. OK, this is probably a really dumb question but it popped into my empty head and is bouncing around in there. Let's say I am at my slip and have a half tank of fuel, 50 gals or so. I want to add in some additive, Stabil or Startron or whatever. If I add enough for the full tank, 100 gallons, and then run for about 15 minutes to fill up, will that have any effect on its potency once the tanks are full? Will it blend with the 50 gal and do whatever molecular thing it does but not re-blend the same way when I add in 50 more gallons? Is it any better to add it at the fuel dock when it can mix with the whole 100 gallons in one shot? I am assuming it does not really matter but like I said, the thought crossed my mind. It's easier for me to add stuff at my slip since I can throw away the bottles right there and not have to worry about spilling since it is calmer compared to a fuel dock on the main channel with wakes and people waiting and usually no trash can right there. if nothing else, this post gets the post count one higher for Wiley to show potential advertisers.
  2. Who knows the actual rule about alchohol on the boat? I rarely drink and never while driving, riding or boating(till back at the dock)but have friends and family on the boat that do. What are the real rules for open containers out on the boat? Am I in trouble if I have not had a drink but get stopped with a fish box full of beer and a couple friends that have been drinking? It probably varies but I boat in NJ.
  3. My guy was prety quick actually. He is in NJ and there is a Wold Cat dealer not too far from where we are. He might be able to go measure a boat there, make the cover and ship it to you. His name is Tom Graham and his company is Graham's Marine Canvass in Sea Isle City, NJ. His number is 609-624-7979 I think the web site is www.grahamscustommarinecancas.com but i may be wrong on the exact address. I have nothing to do with the guy other than he did work for me and I have been very pleased. Even came to the boat and made some changes I asked for after the fact and charged materials only. Real good guy give him a call or an e-mail. can't hurt to see what options you have.
  4. I looked for a while for my WC 250DC and everyone who made covers had great recommendations but no one would guarentee a proper fit since it was a cat. I ended up geting a mooring cover made by a local guy and just shrink wrap it for the winter. One of these days I may look for a winter cover but what I have now is perfect for in season use.
  5. UPDATE I installed the lights pictured above last weekend. They went in real easy, a little soldering and done. The bow lights were the same shape as the originals but just a little smaller. I was able to re-use the original rubber gasket so they end up in the exact same footprint. The all around light is taller than original but that works out perfectly as it will probably be higher than a small radar unit I hope to add some day. the little indicators on top of teh bow lights are kind of tough to see but the lights now shine color on the the boat to show me they are on clearly enough. The originals didn't put out enough light to even do that. The all around is bright enough without being glaring. Overall Good products and good price.
  6. AWESOME Sh eloved it any more info I can get on this service. Your web site is missing some info like pricing and stuff liek that.
  7. We just got a new sponsor here on the forum that just might be able to help you out with that. check this thread: http://reelboating.com/forums/?showtopic=1979 Let us all know how you make out
  8. I went on their web site. They do look like cool lights but they say they are not legal for navigation lights since they are not USCG approved. Neat idea though. I would imagine if you already had approved nav lights, adding them would not be against any rules and it would look good and up the visibilitylevel a bit. Although mounted that high up might play tricks on oncoming captain's eyes thinking maybe it is further away than it really is.
  9. Thats great to hear. I placed the order today and hope to install this weekend. They are backordered on the all around light so that one will have to wait for another day. Thanks for the input guys!!!
  10. I am considering upgrading the nav lights on the boat and figure LED is the way to go for less power draw and maybe a longer life. I was looking at Atwood lights. I will want two bow lights and an all around anchor light. I see Atwood has a little indicator on the top of the bow lights to make it easy to see if they are on, I definitly like that idea. They are certainly pricesd right but that may or may not be a quality indicator. Anyone have any experience with these or others that I should look at? I am looking for brighter as first priority, long lasting and easy to install. These are ones I had seen
  11. Shouldn't all you people be working and not wasting time playing on the interweb!? Oh s**t, gotta run, the boss is coming Keep up the great work Wiley
  12. I am considering the same thing for my boat as it sits more than I would like. I have three batteries though. one for each motor and a house. I wonder if one panel will be able to be split to charge all three batteries. Looking forward to seeing the input.
  13. I just stumbled in here and have to say. That is some kool stuff. If you had a minute, here are a couple my wife would get a kick out of. If you don't mind that is. her first fish ever in the one and the other is her first shark.
  14. sweeeeet. I just may keep it on the side. keep em comin
  15. My personal opinion on the matter is if she hooked it, helped reel it in and laid claim to it, it is her fish. We fish with kids and adults and everyone has their own rod. If anyone hooks onto a fish, everyone helps if it is needed but it is still that person's fish. After all, how many of you/us have fought a fish, brought it up to the boat and had a buddy gaf or net it and haul it on board. Who is credited with the catch? The person with the rod in his hand when the hook was set. Not the gaf guy, not the guy who held on to him so he wouldn't be dragged overboard, not the captain who maneuvered the boat, not even the guy who sold him the bait that attracted said fish in the first place. Kudos for her. Nice fish Tegan!
  16. Here are some better side shots. No real good ones of the transom though. Thanks again to everybody for the ideas.
  17. Great ideas so far. I think I am going to go with the large name on the transom then cut some starboard or similar material and attach it to the side of the hard top for something smaller on the sides.
  18. Make everyone happy and call her the Zombie Shrimp Killer. Problem solved.
  19. Yeah, I showed that one to the Mrs. before. She wasn't quite as thrilled with the idea.
  20. Thats a good one actually. I had not thought of adding a lighthouse to it. Definitely going into the file of possibles. Thanks and keep em coming, if you have nothing else to do that is
  21. Hello all, I figure its time to put a name to the boat and we are trying to decide on just the name or a little artistic design to go along with it. The name we pretty much have come up with so far is "The Bright Side Of Life" or "The Bright Side" The boat is a cat and visibility from the rear is limited due to motors. Still not sure if the name will be on the transom or on both sides. I am thinking full size transom and a couple smaller placards mounted on the sides of the hard top. That way when its time to resell, removal is easy for the next guy. What I am asking the esteemed membership here is some ideas on graphics design to accompany the name itself. I kind of like the idea of something more than just letters. Nothing too far out there but something maybe something to add some color and style to it. THis of course will need to be something that can be duplicated as a decal. Just a little backround on our style; We do a lot of fishing but are not what I would call real serious fishermen/women(yet). We do a bit of cruising around as well. We are into the laid back enjoy the scenery sort of thing. We spend a lot of time close offshore and in the back bays. It is a dual console cat boat and is all white with the factory blue and gold decal stripes on the sides. So, if any of you folks are good with design, maybe even have the programming to make something up, your help would be hugely appreciated. If any of you are marine graphics makers, even better as I will of course need someone to purchase this from when we decide. I will have to do some measuring when the time comes for exact sizes. If this works right, there will be a picture of the side graphics showing up here Thanks in advance!!!
  22. I have the name somewhere on my hom epc but I think if you google cooper liquidators or cooper salvage you will find these guys. All salvage, many physically undamaged boats that sank. Good selection if you are looking for a project boat.
  23. Don;t let it scare you. All boats roll a but when taking a wave from teh side. The cats tend to do it more though. As long as you know it is coming, you are fine. I haven't been tossed over yet. I can run comfortably in in pretty good chop that slows some others in the same size range down. I hate to say it but I have never calculated my fuel burn other than reading the gauge now and then and who knows how acurate that is. With 200 gallons fo fuel, I have never even come close to running out. I have taken more than a few 15-20 mile out trips, trolled aorund and drifted all day and come back with fuel to spare. I suppose I would need to be more attentive to it if I were doing 75-100 miles out. Most times I will go out for a few days without refueling. Economy as far as I can guess is very good compared ot similar boats in the same size range.
  24. I think unless they are law enforcement they are not allowed to enter your property without permission. Of course these days that may be wrong. I really don't care if my address is on some GPS record somewhere. It will make emergencey response people get there faster if I need them. Besides, Google Earth has a real nice shot from above already. Your address is public information already anyway. That said, anyone who just walks onto someones land and up to the front door uninvited is asking for trouble. To feed more informaton to the internet is not a good enough reason to come wandering around on my land. It is still private property and Google is not authorized to send anyone to my house. Curbside is good enough for them. If they bypass the "Private" sign at the end of the driveway, they are opening themselves up to tresspass laws or worse.
