  1. The Raleigh Sail and Power Squadron currently has 25 open seats for the Safe Boating and Skills Course, which starts on Sep 8. Classes are every Tue 7 - 9 pm. Exam is on Oct 20 http://www.rsps.org/
  2. Thanks Robbie, but I pulled $5 worth of brew out of your fridge last week - we're good. Rich, I pulled down the Lowrance update last year with no appreciable difference. I reviewed the Navionics Chip on the Lowrance website this morning, nice but it's a bit pricey. I see Lowrance also has NauticPath USA, which provides good detail and may provide to zoom capability I'm seeking. NauticPath is half the price of Navionics. West Marine carries the product, so I'll head over there at lunch for a demo. Thanks for steering me in the right direction. My daughter is definitely playing softball this fall. I know some of the girls have been contacted by their coach. We did not receive our call yet. I'm heading down to the coast this weekend to let the exterminator in the house and, weather permitting, install a new VHF on the boat. That radio better work !! Thanks again,
  3. My Lowrance GlobalMap 3300C with standard software doesn't zoom very tight. I was advised by a friend that I probably need a SD Card (Chip) with a high detail map (w/waypoints) of our coast. Any chip recommendations for our coast?
  4. Robbie took me out to the Big 10/ Little 10 yesterday. The day started out slow, then picked up in the afternoon. Weed lines were non-existent. We caught 2 phins, 2 nice spaniards, a reef shark and a cuda. The dolphin weenie was the pride of the spread. I always learn a few more tips and tricks when I head out with Robbie. Other than the fact that I look like a glow stick today , we had a great time. Thanks Robbie,
  5. I was bottom fishing last year, when I saw a fish appear on the fish finder. The fish finder showed the fish fairly close to the surface. I asked one of my buddies to drop a line half way down the column and the bait squid on the hood caught the fish's attention. He hooked the cobia (~36"), but I lost him trying to squeeze him into my net - lesson learned. Moments later, we eyeballed another smaller cobia, dropped another line, hooked, but broke loose at the surface. Again, on squid.
  6. Robbie, My wife has the same concern and you know I have vacation to burn. I wouldn't be much of a friend if I let you spend a week at the coast you didn't burn some fuel. I'll give you a call tonight.
  7. Couldn't find Cane Patch yardages on-line. .... and yes, thank you Jan. I received my MB Golf Passport the other week and it's well worth the $39.
  8. I'm sure the owner was in shock. I've been in shock and know first hand you just don't think straight and your priorities are skewed. I could not imagine my 5hr old boat in the turtle position.
  9. I've played many courses in the Myrtle area and most are excellent. Barefoot Resort has 3 challenging courses. Give'em a try. Bike Fest is going on right now, if you're into that sort of thing. I played Tobacco Road on Tues. They aeriated their greens last week, so the greens are rolling sloooooow. Otherwise, the course is in great shape.
  10.
