  1. Just heard the man in the brown suit hath shown his face! I'll be down in VaBeach this upcoming weekend for 3 days...better go sharpen the gaff....
  2. That was a nightmare trying to find a ducer. Found one, finally, at the BPS in Springfield, MO. They are overnighting it. Stephen I'll take you up on that, hoping to do it Wed night I'll try and give you a call.
  3. So I think my ducer is tango-uniform. Did a 'net search on the problem I'm having, came across another forum where someone had the exact same issues and proclaimed that replacing the ducer fixed it. So, how hard is running my own cable? Boat is a 23' Trophy WA. My shop isn't open tomorrow, and earlier this month was 2 weeks out on work. I could have a ducer here maybe tuesday if I order it tonight. I'm sure I could try and get Lowrance to replace it on warranty, but I've got a 3 day fishing trip planned on the 6th, and the cobia, drum and striper are all biting....
  4. The easiest thing to do is to go to www.photobucket.com. Upload your pictures there, make sure your account is set to public, then copy and paste the code here.
  5. Posted on that other site, too. Got sent this link www.pipedreamsmarine.com He had exactly what I needed! I'll let you guys know how they work out when they arrive.
  6. Not much of a welder..... Made some out of PVC for light duty fishing. I might just pony up for some of the Tigress tridents. Make it easier to pull more lines trolling, too.
  7. My boat's got 4 rod holders on the gunnels (two on each side). Alot of my fishing is at anchor in a current. I'd like to get some rod holders I can stick in the two aft holders, that hold two rods each. I've thought about just getting the 3 rod kite type holders, but they are a little bigger than my needs. I built some out of schedule 40 pvc, and they work well, but I'm not sure how they'd hold up with bigger fish. Thoughts?
  8. I really have the same itch, BTW. My current boat is a 23' Walk. I'd love a small skiff or bay boat that I could bass fish from, and run in the shallows of the lower Ches. bay for drum and trout and stuff.
  9. Yeah I was there late July. Heading to my Dad's the week of the 4th this July, probably keep it on the water in Beaufort or Atlantic Beach.
  10. I spray mine with fresh water and then coat them with baby powder. Might have to try the spray scent trick.
  11. I had a 12' flatbottom john boat back in 1996. Biggest problem with it was that it leaked like a colander and was half JB-weld. First real boat? The one I have now. And I plan to keep it until I can upgrade at least into the 30 foot range.
  12. Albright knot seems to be the key for me putting mono and braid together. I use a 50' ish topshot of mono for shock absorption and so that I can tie and retie easily on my rigs that have braid.
  13. I say we hijack this board for our purposes :-) Seriously, anyone doing anything? I haven't been out in a few weeks, and not again till the first weekend in June.
  14. They've been dropping like flies here in VA, too. The bay has claimed a bunch this year.
  15. ######! I'll be down in Morehead in July and intend to get offshore at least one day. Have a two day fishing trip planned for June in VB, cobia being the intended target, might have to add the 3 hour drive further to OI.....
  16. All those boats look like you use them and take care of them....so no. Were you a redneck, you'd have at least one boat with a tree growing through it, preferably sitting surrounded by waist high grass, with a broken windshield and no motor, full of PBR cans.
  17. Tim makes a great product! I've got some of his skirted plugs and trolling lures. You can't whip his prices, either. I don't get offshore much and could not justify the prices of lures through most sources. Expecting to make some time offshore in July in NC....hope to put some Dolphin on the ends of those lures!
  18. Liability aside, I'm not a professional towboat captain. I'd rather not make a situation worse. If someone is in immediate peril, I will do everything in my power to assist them. If they are not in immediate peril, I will stick around and keep an eye on them until proper help arrives. If I say " you should call a towboat" and they say "no, you should tow me in for free".....well, Eff you cheapskate, I'm going fishing. Operating a boat that is in piss poor shape, or not functioning properly, and getting in trouble because of it? Not my problem. Running out of gas is about the number one most idiotic thing one can do. Sorry to be harsh, but if your gas gauge isn't working and you operate the boat anyways? Or you run the tank dry because you were too lazy to account for a reserve, or motor into a marina and get a fill up? And then to get blamed for improperly towing someone who ran out of gas? No thanks.
  19. I have a Trophy 2302. Love my boat. The best thing about a WA is that you get a cockpit area, useful for trolling and fishing at anchor. Casting from it is a little harder, but the type of fishing I do rarely involves casting to fish or structure. Alot more room for my little ones, too. IMHO you should add Trophy to your list. Go look at the 23' (Probably the same model number). Has a full enclosure and four people can ride in the helm area under it in relative comfort, but more importantly dryly and out of the wind/cold. I was considering Sea Hunt and tossed it from my list, as the model comparable to mine didn't have a factory hard top, which was a big deal to me. Lots of little stuff came standard on it. I've run her out to 22+ miles off the outer banks and would do it again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZxAYchf2Jc
  20. I'll have to wait till next week. Out of time today, gone for 5 days starting tomorrow! Turkey hunting in WV staying on a houseboat and having a good time :-)
  21. I'll check 'em out, thanks! To an extent, I was hoping to avoid going over the causeway that weekend, but they have decent rates and I think I know exactly where they are. Really..... Would love to troll up some dolphin.
  22. Okay couple questions: First, looking for suggestions on either where to wet slip the boat for a couple days, or even ideally just keep it on the trailer securely. Dad lives in Havelock, there isn't enough room for it at his house. Beaufort or Morehead city preferably. Not sure how many days we'll be there, probably 4 or 5. Boat is a 23' Trophy Walk Around. Okay, next questions: Looking for the low down on the fishing that time of year. Maybe one day of easy kid fishing, and maybe one day of offshore fishing for ???? Thoughts? Stephen I think that's your stomping grounds....
