  1. My Boggy Creek Diablo. It's an ideal marsh skiff for over here in the marshes of LA.
  2. Hope you don't have any nasty floods on tghe river. That could get interesting.
  3. One day I am going to make it to that show. Have fun. Can't wait to see the pics.
  4. Wow, just wow. Honda had it right with their "Stupid Hurts" campaign.
  5. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a late model Sea Fox for my intended use. I am not a hard core fisherman and I take very good care of my stuff, so it should last me indefinitely. I would let someone else take the initial depreciation hit though!
  6. No need to overthink or overcomplicate this. If you think your life and or property are in immediate danger, use the proword Mayday spoken 3 times to introduce your call. "Mayday, mayday, mayday, this is motor vessel Rusty taking on water in Sebastian Inlet over." Otherwise just make a callout for the Coast Guard on 16. "Coast Guard Miami, this is motor vessel Rusty over." This coming from a Coast Guard SAR coordinator.
  7. I split my time between LA and MS. I came over from the other forum.
  8. I took a four week Coast Guard course, a one week commercial RHIB course and have taken numerous day courses.
  9. Pioneer does make some nice looking boats of very good quality. I don't count the one pictured among them. I'm not crazy about the "hips" for lack of a better word that they are putting on some boats these days. What functional purpose do the flares in the gunnels near the stern serve?
  10. Are you retarded? He is and has been detailing his experiences in trying to purchase a boat. Nothing more, nothing less. The good and the bad. The purpose is to inform, educate and entertain his audience. He does a very good job. I have been enjoying his contributions for a while. He is much fairer minded than I would be too. I would have spelled out the name of the people and companies I dealt with. You seem to think there is some kind of bias in his story. Are you just foaming at the mouth, or do you know the other side of the story?
  11. I like the baitrunners OK. They tend to be heavy for their size though.
  12. You might find that the Mann's struggle to track true as your trolling speed increases. My buddy swears by Bombers and eschews all others.
  13. What does it say when the most popular thread on a new forum is about the other forums we frequent?
  14. I don't think that is going to fit into his $200 budget. The 14 and 18 Shimano's are heavy. It won't take much jigging and casting one to make you wish for a lighter outfit. about 20 ounces is as heavy as I would like to go. Right now the old style Spheros 8000's can be had for under 100 bucks. Put it on a Trevala 6'6" MH and you have a do it all outfit that is rugged dependable and lightweight for right at $200. I simply don't know how you could go wrong with this. I just ordered an Okuma Cedros jigging combo. I like the specs, feel and the price. It remains to be seen whether it will hold up over time. It certainly looks and feels built. It hits the price point too.

  16. I'd like to make a few comments relative to SPOT. It is monitored by a commercial source, not the Coast Guard. Any distress information would have to run through several time consuming filters before it gets to the Coast Guard. The device is not Coast Guard approved, meaning it has not been tested by the CG for standards of waterproofness, impact resistance, battery life and durability. After 3 years the price of the SPOT and an EPIRB essentially equalize.
