  1. Yea it's cold at the coast too. This is going to hurt the specks really bad. I heard that some guy's farther up dip netted close to 800 lbs. ( had their comm. License). really sad part is some of those fish were 10 lb. + , thats losing good brood stock there.

  2. This is a good shrimp recipe. Takes a little bit of time to make the marinade but it is good. Sort of "Italian" Shrimp.

    1 stick butter / 1tsp. black pepper / 1 tsp. thyme /1 bay leaf / 1 tsp.cayenne pepper / 1 tsp. olive oil / 1/3 cup worcestershire sauce ( Lea & Perrins )/ 2 tsp. garlic puree

1/2 tsp. celery salt / 1 tsp. salt / 2 tsp. rosemary / clove of garlic. This is the ingredients for the marinade and is enough for about 50-60 medium shrimp, heads off, shell on.

In a skillet, melt butter and add worcestershire, pepper, garlic puree, thyme, celery salt, bay leaf, cayenne pepper, rosemary, olive oil, and a clove of garlic. Stir this often

and cook slowly for 10-15 minutes, do not boil it. I used to use a casserole dish but now I use a gallon zip lock bag. Let the sauce cool, you do not want it to be hot when you add the shrimp.

Add the shrimp and sauce and let sit for at least 2-3 hours, overnite would be good but I've never made it that long.

Preheat the oven to 400 and spread the shrimp out on a baking sheet ( cover it with foil first ) for about 12 minutes stir them up a couple times during this time. You might have to adjust the time depending on the size of the shrimp, the big ones take about 16-18 minutes.

Thats it, you can have some bread around if you like because the sauce on the plates is good too.

  3. Cool 1992_beer_cheer.gif

Yeah, got plenty of Low Country recipes, might post one tomorrow if the weather is as cold as today. Maybe some blue crab stew for these crazy temps blink.gif

Temps are killing me 22.1 now and have 7.7 for the low/low nut's.

That would be VERY good right now with some red potatoes in it. I have some guy's in Carolina Beach that will ship to me and they crab also but thats gone for the season now. They do have there own meat, I can't buy that stuff out of the store, lord knows where that came from.

    Thanks,

    Butch

  5. This is from computre inept one 605_thumbs_up.gif , come on everyone has to have one.

Reely, is there a list of sponsors that we can access to provide support here when we buy?? I was reading osprey 250's advice on the battery chargers and I am going to get one to replace the maintainer I have in the boat. I like Jim at BOE and was wondering if he was on board here yet?

    Thanks,

    Butch

  6. Thought this might be a fun thread for us to share our recipes, fish, shrimp, whatever on the grill with a cold beer or whatever that choice might be. I will start it off with this one:

I cook Mahi on the grill a lot and have found this to be easy to fix and cleanup is a breeze. I will cut the filets into pieces about 4"x 4" and then have foil pieces about a foot or so square. Put a piece of stick butter cut lengthwise about an 1/8" on inch first on the foil then the Mahi.

Then I will have some green and red sweet pepper's sliced about a 1/4" thick, I lay one slice of each on top of the fish and then with some cracked pepper and very light sprinkle of Lawry's season salt , loosely fold the foil up around the fish, you want to be able to let some of the steam escape.

This goes on the charcoal grill for about ten minutes or so (depends on how thick the fish is). When it is done you can just slide a spatula under the fish , lay it on the plate, wrap up the foil and toss it.

I will make some wild rice with this and it has become a hit around our house and the peppers add some color and sweetness.

  7. Well we made through 2009 and I am optomistic that 2010 will get better.

There are few of us that need your help. We managed to get our towing bill passed and also in that process had the ONLY VETO overturned ever in North Carolina by our House and Senate. That was no small feat. Short Session is starting soon and OUR Represenatives and Senators will be there for us to get there attention.

By clicking on the North Carolina Flag that will take you to our site. We have a form letter set up to send and it does not take a lot of time if we do not do this,

NO ONE will do it for us.

I will be bothering all of you at least once a week on this and if you send the letter once / GO AHEAD and SEND it AGAIN the next week, if they do not hear from us then they will not care about us either.

We have a lot of power together. We spend a lot money doing what we enjoy and we can change the Ethanol Polices and get these pumps labled so we know what is going into our engines and tanks.

Thanks for your time, I appreciate it,

    Butch

  8. I don't know about the Berrie's, but I can not see any sos written anywhere and they do not seem to be looking at the camera when the picture was taken ?

    Butch

Butch, other pictures clearly display an SOS sign in the sand. It was definitely written but it all makes no sense. Things aren't adding up.

    Blue Bayou,

That's my fault then. I did not look at the other pictures, just the ones that were posted up here. Last time I was in the Bahamas was in 76 when I did a job over there.

    Thanks,

    Butch
