  1. Hey GMan, We're headed there June 20th. Also, have a trip scheduled for September. Give us a fishing report when you get back. Last year we did better trolling up at the shoals than the rock pile. FWIW.
  2. For you guys that want to catch a cobia... one word of advice. MAKE SURE he is wore out before boating him. You'll be amazed at the damage a green one can do! Box him or get the hell out of his way. I have never targeted them, they have allways been a by catch and allways close to shore king fishing, both live baiting and speed trolling. Caught 4 so far, great eating.
  3. Thanks for the report.. they are moving North guys... get ready.
  4. Greg, you are welcome to use mine to see if they work for you. Thy track very straight vs a plain or finned lead ball.
  5. Hi Greg, I will probably hold onto them. Probably continue to use them slow trolling. Also, I have them on the deepest setting, I will try a higher setting to see if they relax some.
  6. Spot... Can you buy a beer at Bay Breeze now?
  7. I feel your pain... I am so ready to go, but I plan to be more selective this year, ie, picking my locations. I am trying to fish above frying pan shouls this year -- Topsail for Grouper, more North for the Palegics. As always. Fall I'll fish the US Open... damn... I going to win that tourney before I take my dirt nap! Just getting the boat de-winterized. Got to install new windshield wiper, dual set of outrigger lines... clear her up, and stock her up.
  8. Yo Smurf... didn't you fish with me and trollinheel a few years back??? Your buddy's place... can the princess and kids walk to the beach? like across the street...
  9. Last year, we put out a man stretch 25 for something different in the spread, I use braid with 80# yozuri fluoro windon leaders. Caught a 65 lb yellow fin. over a load of bally I was pulling. We were fishing the point out of Oregon inlet. If I were at the tower & west / south west there of, I would suggest a 18" tippet of 40 - 60lb wire. I was really impressed with the stretch's action, look very life like. A few weeks after landing the Y Fin, I was working the grounds off Ocracoke and North to Hatteras... we hooked up at least 6 dolphins but they kept comming unbuttoned -- shortly after hook up. I questioned myself about the hook size (treble size too large?) I plan to try them again this season, may try some smaller hooks.
  10. Thanks Folks, I'll check out Palm Suites, Carribe & Anchorage marina... Yo Bite-Doc- - I used the 250 ZWings. They dive at slow speeds just as well at high speeds. Slow, they are as heavy as a downrigger ball, fast they dive straight down with a LOT of pressure. Remember the trouble you had retriving with my downrigger last Spring? The Zwing pulled so hard that the downrigger locked up -- I had to send it to the factory for rework. Want to buy my Zwings??? I think this year I am going to run simple planers that do not apply so much pressure. I have thought about using bridles in my braid, but I think I'll try my downriggers with basic planers first. The downriggers give me a meter count of feet down which I can't do with a rod & bridle. TrollinHell -- errr -- I mean Heel . Glad to have you come mate with us. I'll be in touch about my trips this year and give you and Spot a heads up -- hope you can to join me. Jonafare Oh yea... Young Grouper Master... like father , like son. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
  11. Hi Folks and Old Friends... I plan to fish the Morehead area this summer and I am looking for docks with nearby motels where the princess and kids can access the beach (walk). I mostly blue water fish and need to put the boat in a slip for a 2-3 day weekend several times this season. I'd be open to a rental cottage as well. Important that princess and kids can walk over to the beach. Swansboro / Indian Beach area OK also, will be fishing the Big Rock area and along the shelf as well. Good to be here and look forward to the responce.
  12. Hi Folks, Jonafare is here. Good to hear some old names!
