  1. I have been reading another thread on "that other site" about this. The video was pretty clear so it's no wonder he got caught. Where were the parents while this punk was out at 2:15am? If it was my kid, he would be spending time in jail just to make sure I didn't get ahold of him.
  2. OUCH!!! That looks like it hurt! Post some video of triple digits. I would love to do that. Been on a water ski at 80mph once, ONCE! I B-Slapped my "buddy" when I finally got back in the boat. It was Insane.
  3. I figured it would not be the most fun I have had on a boat. The ideal of having it done is tempting, but would eat into my Electronics, Outrigger (can you believe no outriggers on a boat like this???) and Gear budget. I will porbably leave it alone for awhile and hope the trailer and just plain old wear will take most of it off. Once it gets to the "Really Fugly" half worn off point I will probably go ahead and do the soda blasting/ painting route.
  4. Don't you have any close friends that could talk you out of it??? Congratulations, I know the drill, I have been there twice
  5. you are kidding, ME right. no wonder you have a X_WIFE! If I had a 28' hydra sport Deep V, I would not get wet very much eather. WOW,, how many X's do you have? (I have 2, thank god) You apparently have a very thin skin or are having a bad day. I stated the obvious (which was backed up by every other post) and said that I get wet in my H/S. I have owned a few flats boats and they all are wet, some more than others. My Hewes was a very wet boat compared to my Key West Stealth, but it threw water up ust not as much. Point I was making is Every Boat will throw water up. It all depends on the hull and conditions.
  6. You are Kidding, right? I don't care what boat you are in, with the right conditions Every Boat will take on spray. Especially a Flat Bottom Carolina Skiff. Even my 28' Hydra Sports will get spray, you are in the water for god's sake. Would you call ford because while driving down a dirt road some dust came in the window?
  7. Nice day. Good to see the dolphin are starting to head our way.
  8. Taking delivery of a 28' Hydra Sports and it has been kept on a lift. The owner bottom painted it, not sure why as it is out of the water on the lift, but whatever. Question is what is the best and easiest way to get this stuff off? I figure I will pressure wash the crap out of it and see how much that removes but the idea of getting under it and sanding then waxing it doesn't sound fun. Any other ideal's.
  9. Welder, After posting I got to thinking about my old Hydra Sports. Like I said it was the best boat I ever ran, so I started looking for another one. Found it, Tested it and I pick it up on Saturday!!! 2003 2800 Vector Cuddy Cabin with OX66 Yamaha's. Damn, Boat Fever strikes again.
  10. Welder, The Parker I rode on was a 2520 Extended Cabin. It was a mid 90's boat and hit hard. Maybe it was because of all the weight up front. The only thing I ever thought was worse was a 27' W/A Proline I used to own. That thing was the Hardest Hitting, Wettest Riding Plug I ever wished I had never purchased. All my buddies would say "If you aren't wet, your not in Paul's boat" The construction was so bad that Proline had to totally Replace the boat 3 years after I received it from the factory. TOTAL POS!!! On the other hand the Hydra Sports I had was the BEST Boat I ever owned or rode in. That thing Loved to go fast. Even in rough seas. It seemed like the rougher it was, the faster it would go. I am on the hunt for another offshore boat now. Looking at the Grady White Marlin. It seems to be a great boat from what I have heard. Also looking at the Pursuit's and Mako's. No less than 28' and has to be a Cuddy. Should be a few good deals out there!
  11. I have ridden the Parker and, Damn it Hits Hard! The best boat I have ever ridden on was my Hydra Sports. Cruise around 35 and gets about 1.8 mpg. Don't firewall the throttles if you don't want to see 0.8 mpg!
  12. The plate with the Hole Predrilled into it is for the outriggers. It probably also has the mounting holes predrilled into it. On my Hydra Sports I had to shorten the handles on the mounts to make them fit when I rotated them outward. The triangle plate is a frame gusset and is not for mounting the riggers. It probably isn't as thick as the mounting plate is would not take the stress of those 18' long riggers bouncing around.
  13. We do the things we don't want to do so that we can do the things we want to. Look on the bright side. Its a Ballast tank, not a Holding Tank!
  14. Using the hose on the block will destroy the impeller as it ONLY supplies water to the block and nothing to the impeller. You might as well run it without anything. As to your alarm, Yamaha's are notorious for not liking the muff's. I ran my F250's on the muffs a few times but never for long. I know a Yamaha tech and he advised against it, especially since I was on a well and my pressure and flow was questionable anyway.
  15. Come on down. Been running around in my girlfriend's BMW with the top down. Mid 80's, lots of Sun and the Cobes are running hard. I saw that stuff you call snow once, ONCE!! Never Again!!!!
  16. Thanks for the Link's. I saved them for when I am ready (soon).
  17. If you don't mind, How Much was the cost? My Hydra Sports had something like that and it was great for those days when we were just cruising. I am looking at another offshore boat and will probably need to do something like that to what ever one I buy.
  18. Still for sale in Central Florida. The weather is warm, Reds are hitting top water. It needs to go!
  19. The ONLY thing you want on your battery terminals are Lock Nuts.
  20. Boat Shows are great. There is not a better way of telling the quality and feel of a boat that getting in one and actually laying your hands on it. Everyone can read on the internet and look at spec's. But it just doesn't cut it. Plus, I think it is a good way for manufacturers to hear what the public thinks about various facets of their designs. What looks great on paper and in the brochure may be terrible when put into use offshore. How else are you going to get the uncut feedback from consumers? I bought a Brand New Hydra Sports 2800 Vector. In the first month they flooded me with mailer's asking for opinions on the boat. You are still in the Honey Moon stage at that point and probably haven't even got it rigged out the way you want it yet. Within a couple of months I had rewired and added to the Perko battery switch systems, added the Yamaha secondary charging cables, Battery maintainer, re-plumbed the live well, put Wedges on the Yamaha F250's and on and on. Things that the manufacturer should have on the boat from stock (especially the Wedges and Battery Switch system). They never heard about that from me until the following year at the Miami Boat Show. Without the actual face to face time a Boat Show provides I think both the consumer and manufacturer would make assumptions that neither would prosper from.
  21. Selling Price is $9,100. I also have a full cover for the boat. Selling it to buy another 28' Hydra Sports. Looking to spend around $30k and will use the HEWES for a trade if anyone has anything along those lines.
  22. 1995 Hewes 18' Redfisher. Yamaha 115 HP 2 Stroke with S/S Prop. Runs Well. Newly Painted with New Stickers. 80lb thrust Trolling Motor with foot switches in front deck. BPS 3 Bank Battery charger. Perko Battery switch allows the trolling batteries to be used for emergency jumpers. Bennett Trim Tabs, Depth Finder, GPS, VHF Radio. Center Live well and side Release well. With Plenty of in deck storage. Poling Platform with Rod Holders Cooler with S/S Flush Mounting plates. Seat Cushion for 3 across. Flush Mounted plates and one adjustable seat. Aluminum Trailer with good tires and spare. Great Fishing platform for the IRL or Mosquito Lagoon. Easy to tow and launch by yourself. Runs great and fish's really shallow. I am getting ready for another large offshore boat and need to sell. Paul 407-509-3489
  23. I have had both styles of top. I will say the Hard Top is much cooler under it. My Canvas top seemed to radiate heat and if I didn't keep it sprayed with some 3M water proofing it would also allow water to filter through it. Unfortunately I had the Hard top first and the Canvas second so I was never really happy with it.
