  1. Have a great trip. I had my daughter out for her first offshore trip 2weeks ago out of southport. She had a blast she wanted to go last year but broke her leg the last day of school and was in a cast to her hip all summer including our beach trip. Anyway we smashed the dolphin on the first trip out and she did not want to go to the beach all week she wanted to go fishing with dad instead. Shes 12 so did not get a license but she has been bit by the bug. Have a great trip and give us a report.
  2. You have found the HOTSPOT 2? One thing i did think of that i did not put in my earlier post. Check out the livewell lid when open and trimming the engine up. I can tell you fron experience the livewell lid is stronger than the top cowling on the Yamaha. I put stops on the lid to keep it from happening again i dont know if Sea Hunt addressed this with the newer models or not. May get the dealer to do it before you buy it. Good Luck and great looking boat.
  3. The trim levels on the Chevys are LT loaded with leather seats, LS cloth seats will have most power options some will not have power seats. I think GMC used SLT and SL as their trim levels but not 100% sure. I had an 01 2500 suburban with the 6.0 gas burner. It was a good auto but the gear it had was not for towing. But my trips were 250-300 miles 1 way towing the boat once per month, but if it had only been 1 or 2 times a year it would not have been that bad as the gas mileage was decent when not towing. I now have an 03 truck with the duramax and would have a hard time going back to the gas burner due to the power of the diesel.
  4. I have had my 240 over a year now. I have 230 flawless hours on the F250. The only problem with the boat i have had was one of the circuit breakers went bad about a month ago i just purchased one and replaced it. As far as fuel burn i run out of Southport most of the time i can make the trip to the tower and trolling and burn between 38 and 42 gallons depending on the sea conditions according to the Yamaha gauges i run around 130 miles on this trip so i have been averaging 3mpg. The boat will fish any sea conditions i want to be in and some i dont. I like the room for electronics to be flush mounted i have 2 10" screens mounted on mine with some room to spare. The only negative i can think of are 1-offer a leaningpost with storage in it for tackle and 2-move the switch panel from knee height to the bottom of the electronics area. I think all of the newer ones have moved the switch panel i have seen several up there anyway. The boat responds well to the trim tabs to give a smooth ride in a tight chop and the carolina flare keeps it dry unless you have a cross wind to put it in the boat with you. I went from the Sea Pro sv2300 to this boat also because the offshore bug bit me too. The only real problem i have had with the whole package was the trailer and when the wesco found out the problem it was corrected quickly and to my satisfaction. If you have any other questions let me know.
  5. The only rainfade problems i had with either was during a heavy rain or storm. Then was only for a few seconds i would say both Direct and Dish were the same in that. The customer service was much better with Direct TV as Dish would tell you what they could do but not follow through with it and the next person you talk with could not approve that.
  6. I put a set of Maxis radials on my trailer last year now have aout 6000 miles on them with no problems at all. My tire dealer also boats and tows in the same area as me, he recommended them based on his own experience also. It seems like he told me they had a better side wall than other radial trailer tires. I had had 2 blowouts of bias trailer tires in less than 2000 miles on my trailer and the boat dealer could not find anything wrong. I was at the tire shop i have used for years getting truck tires and talked with them and after he told me to use the Maxis radials i have had no more problems for 6000 miles.
  7. Cablemaker Let me know how the smaller hooks work out. I have a stretch or 2 that need replacement hooks soon and may try some smaller ones. I have not had any trouble with the stripers coming unbuttoned on the bigger hooks but a dolphin or king could be a problem with the larger hooks. I am going to be in the Keys this weekend and am going to troll some of the stretches for something other than stripers for the first time. When you were in Taylorsville area did you fish Hickory any? I have been in this area all my life its just to far from saltwater.
  8. I have never changed the hooks on mine. We troll 25's and 30's for striper in the ches bay and they work well. In a previous post The Hun said he switched to 5/0 hooks and some of the guys were taling about using single hooks but i have not tried this yet but i may give it a shot. Todd
  9. ORELLY, Sorry for the delay, another brand of vac motor is Ametek. Grainger and kleen rite also carry these. I gave the wrong address for kleen rite the correct one is www.kleen-ritecorp.com. If you go to graingers web site they give the cfm flow and everything on there. The lift i have worked on used a bypass motor with a discharge tube. If you need anything else let me know and i will try to help.
  10. Lamb makes a lot of vac motors used in the carwash service. The owner of the company i work for has a boat lift and it was a match for it. There is another manuf of them also and i think they will interchange i will look at work tomorrow and see what i can find for you. You might check kleanrite.com they are a supplier of parts for the carwash industry and have good prices most of the time.
  11. You are correct. It passes a DSC call or Mayday to the chartplotter and put it on the screen as an icon so you can nave to it easily.
  12. http://www.oceancrestpier.net/modules.php?...&width=100% Ocean Crest Pier I like the others also i had a few of them but not all. Did not have the creek cam
  13. Apology not needed but thanks anyway. True first class guy.
  14. Block off the low water nose cone inlets and it will run fine on the hose with dual feed muffs.
  15. Break in service. I changed engine oil and filter, removed spark plugs and checked the gap on them, Lower unit oil, removed the prop checked for line around prop shaft greased prop shaft and retorqued prop nut, greased all fittings ran the engine on hose and checked for fuel and water leaks. Also check the on engine fuel filter for trash or water. The service manual actually says this service is to be at 10 hrs but the owners manual and the dealer that sold me the boat said 20 hrs so that is what i done.
  16. If for some reason the property taxes dont get paid you will not get the tag renewal in the mail.Happend to me last year when i switched to a weighted tag did not get a renewal and tag had been out for about 6 months lucky for me my mechanic noticed it and not the HP. I did not receive a tax bill therefore did not think about the taxes and you do not get a renewal for the tag if taxes are overdue so after paying the taxes and intrest in cash to get the tag released i could buy a new tag. Just something you might want to check.
  17. Tommy Im on the way to Vegas on Monday also. You on buisness or vacation? Buisness for me and after 3 trips last year for the same i dont want to go, to far from the ocean. Hoover dam and Lake Meade are good to do and the Grand Canyon helo or fly to the south rim for a tour of the park. Bass Pro in Vegas has a big aquarium with a bar where you can watch the mermaids feed the fish. Be sure to go to the old downtown one night for the light show it is good.
  18. Name: Todd Location: Statesville/Oak Island Fishing Areas : Southport/Chesapeak Bay in the winter Boat: 08 Sea Hunt 240 Job: Electrican for Carwash Equipment Manufacture
  19. I mainly run them in the Ches Bay for stripers and just tie straight to the lure. Been thinking of adding them when trolling for other fish with a wire leader. They do work good on the stripers though. Normally use the Stretch 20 and 25's gold/black and red head do have a few other colors but those are the proudcers for me.
