  1. Welding about 20 minutes, drop the lower unit and sand it about 30 minutes. Yup both primers would work. The guy I used to work for was a pilot and also painted allot of airplane parts...he swore by the 1791 for aluminum. No sealer and no hardener in the base. Base color coat then a few coats of clear. Done.
  2. Here's an old DIY project I did about two years ago. Feel free to ask questions about it. (got a new project everyone will love, in the works)

  5. What colors and paint product are you going with? Any idea on the weight of each hull when finished?
  6. Nice! Turn the volume down first...very loud audio:

  10. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,579689,00.html My Army buddy tried to teach me to surf at Haleiwa Ali' in November of 1995 the first week I got the the islands, the waves were only 10'. Nearly killed me. Won't try surfing anytime ever again. Worst part there were 10 year old kids out there making it look easy. Further up the road we would watch the 30+ footers in Dec-Feb crash in Waimea Bay. The mist from the waves would sometimes close the road there. Impressive to watch waves that big.
  11. Oh no he is not. Just got off the phone a few minutes ago. Stroker on the way. And it's a slow one right now at only 85 mph WOT. That problem will be corrected with triple digits on the GPS....documented for all to see.
  12. Kerno: http://www.yamaha-rebuild.com/Yamaha%20High%20Perf.htm The ECU reflash on HPDI's is now out.... conveniently released at the same time they are beginning to phase out their 2-strokes and confusing the heck out of me on my repower. Can I even use 7200 rpms effectively??? Decision is now the 250 Vmax Series II HPDI or 250 SHO to power with. Not liking what I'm learning/reading about the Mercury XS's.
  13. So yesterday was the first time I got some seat time at the helm of a Stroker. A slow one that only does about 85mph. I'm truly impressed with these boats. Hard getting used to the slow hole shot but once the steep pitch prop bit it was full speed ahead with very little trim work. I can't believe the acceleration from 20-80mph. Only seconds to get your stuff together before your eyes start watering and the pulse rate picks up to 120+bpm. My guess is from 20 to 80 mph only took about 4-5 seconds. One thing that concerned me was the mushy feel that a padded steering wheel gives: (this is not the boat I was in but the same wheel) I think you would get better feedback from a hard solid wheel like the Edson 13" ComfortGrip: http://www.edsonmari...f5e5d2b71649bff Kerno...what's your thoughts on fast boat wheels???
  14. No time for rest...get em' in the livewell!
  15. That bracket is very trick. I'll have to measure but I think I wear a 48+ vest. Do you really think I need a chute vest? Here's what I've been looking at: http://www.lifelinejackets.com/no-chute_jackets.cfm Getting close to picking the hull. think I'm going for the Stroker hull that needs someone to "save" it from the current owner. It would be a 6 month project but I'd like to go through every inch, wire etc. I'll be sure to involve you in it!
