  1. I have the Costa Pescador, Triple Tail and Wave Killer. They are all several years old and have held up really good. The frames on the Wave Killer and Triple Tail are really tough. I did have the Pescador break on the bridge of the nose. It seems that is a weak spot in the design. Costa replaced them with no questions. Last week I bought a pair of Ocean Waves Atlantic Beach 2 and have been really pleased with them. In a side x side comparison, I feel that the lenses in the OW's are better. They seem to have a little more sharpness. However, I don't feel that the frames are as well made as my Wave Killers or Triple Tails. I guess time will tell. Yes I have a sunglass problem.

  2. Had a great day on Sunday fishing out of Harkers Island. Ran up to 315 and got into some grey trout pretty good. Most fish in the 18-20 inch range. Guy in the boat beside me caught one that had to be 6-7 lbs. Also saw a few small flounder and two 5 pounders. Fished with my son with a ultra light with a speck rig when my wife says wow look over here there is a shark swimming along beside the boat. Casually walked over to look and there was a 30 lb cobia swimming along beside the boat as we drifted. Of course all my stuff was stowed away. By the time I got a rod out he was long gone. It was still fun catching blues on a light weight rod with 8lbs test with a six year old. On the way back in saw a sweet new (no numbers) green Southport anchored at the light house. Real nice, Real nice.

  3. Anyone ever tried these? I keep seeing them in the tackle shops & I'm just curious if they work. I don't really fish for kings much, but I thought I might throw a couple in the tackle box & check them out sometime when I feel like a slow ride in.

We had one last year. The first time we put it on was on a down rigger out at the big ten/little ten. Within minutes ziiiiiiiiiiing pow! Never saw what it was but it was big.

  4. Well the computer reads 5:00 on Friday evening and someone wrote forget the beer where is the whiskey. So what's in your glass this fine rainy Friday evening? Mine is getting ready to have a little Bombay Saphire. I think the better half is pouring a Kahlua and half/half and she wonders why she can't lose any weight.

  5. If you are looking at pulling the shallower stretches, I would get yozuri DD crystal minnows instead. These lures are great. You can pretty much catch anything that swims on one. I don't use wire with mine. I crimp a flouro leader with a loop in the end to the lure. This doesn't put any pressure on the bait and swims true.

  6. When you pump in the new lube, be sure you have the engine trimmed level and pump until the lube starts to come out of the top hole. Install the top plug first, then remove the fill tube and install the bottom plug.

The Yamaha Lube I get from SIM is green in color.

Thanks for the link. I got everything right except for switching out the seals on the plugs. Should I go back and switch them out? I went back and looked at the quart of oil and it reads Yamah gear oil. It says it is for all Yamaha outboard lower units and outdrives. :504_shrugging:

  7. I was out in the yard today tinkering on the boat thinking that this is the best time of the year. I haven't broke anything on the boat yet. In a few weeks the rocks will be running in the Roanoke. The weather is getting warmer by the day and my mind is full of great expectations for this fishing season. Man, I can't wait.
