  1. The paramount will handle rough seas better than the Albury. The Albury is a great boat but more of a flat bottom. I imagine that top speed will be around 30mph which is all you need. If youre not familiar with the waters thats plenty fast. Be sure to purchase some local charts that will help you navigate the waters.

You will find good snapper/grouper fishing in most of the channels leading out to the Atlantic. Get some chum and anchor up for bottom fishing or purchase a couple of Magnum 30 big lip plugs and drag them through the channels. These plugs work well.

    Good luck.

  2. i have never personally rented from Abaco but some of my family members have. the rented the Paramount and it was a pig they. the boat topped out at around 30 mph. as for the ride they never took it out far but wasn't horrible for island hopping. Be careful spear fishing because the sharks are BIG and i have had some really close encounters. Ive only fished off Hope Town and if you are heading in and out of there dont try any short cuts because I have seen coral heads breaking the surface in 30ft of water. i dont know too much about the fishing this time of year but call some local charters and ask them what they are targeting and they should let you know. Abaco is a beautiful place and you'll have a blast :1992_beer_cheer::239_fishing:

  3. That could be...I'll have to check it out. The problem I'm having is that when the boat is sitting on the trailer one fish box will hold water after a rain and the other doesn't. I'd like to find a way to make them watertight in the sense that rainwater will not accumulate.

Normally neither box should drain out until you turn on your macerator pumps. That is the way they are designed at least on most boats. Your fishbox that is draining out without turning on the pump is the problem. As far as making the fishboxes weatherproof you will need to replace or add a good rubber seal around the box.

  4. I will be leaving from Stuart also Conchy Shel 30 ft Pursuit diesel express. I doubt I could keep up with you but at least we can have a drink at OBB..Its lookin more like the 20th for me due to weather

I am in Manatee pocket are you guys local or just crusin through

    Russ

We are headed down by boat from New Smynra Beach to Stuart on the 20th and will be at Pirates Cove for the night. Will be leaving for OBB the morning of the 21st. I'm towing a 15 boston whaler.

  5. I may go next weekend or the 20th depends on the weather. I heard yseterday from a commercial guy that the YFT bite is the best its been in years..Everyone is chasing birds up north of the corner.

Well I'm headed to Bahama Bay on the 20th for a day or two and then to GTC. Name of the boat is CSkipR. 43 Cabo. Call me if you head that way. I'm leaving from Stuart.

  6. On my previous boat with a 3 ft draft I was able to leave Bahama Bay and follow the short channel headed to Green Turtle. My new boat has a 4'5" draft and I have some concerns with this channel. It was two years the last time I made this trip. I dont want to damage props at the beginning of my vacation. Can anyone provide me current information or should I run North and then cut over.

    Thanks

  7. I msy be over around the same time. High speed wahoo not so much. Tuna could be hot but you will have to run from west end south east in the NW providence channel or north of the corner which is a haul from WE. I have had good success YFT fishing out of Lucaya. If you are tagreting YFT I would do Lucya or Grand Cay in the north. If you have family and non fisherman then Lucaya is the best. if you guys are hard core then do Rosie's on Grand Cay and fish north of Grand 20-50 miles and should find the birds.

We have hammered the YFT out of Lucaya in some trips we were only 7 miles out! Either way its all fun good luck!

    Bill,

When are you going over? I'm headed over to BB on Apr 20th for a couple of days and then to Green Turtle for a couple of months.
