  3. Its depends on there environment and food supply Butch. I would say about 7-9 years old. They only live to be around 10-12 years old. Males reach sexual maturity at approximately 1 year,,, Here is some good reading on the subject. I know Charlie and John,I worked with them for a little while at DNR,,good guys! http://saltwaterfishing.sc.gov/pdf/seatrout%20for%20Web.pdf
  4. As far as I know nobody has seen any dead trout here in Charleston,SC. Its the subject in the tackle shops. Every body has there fingers crossed. Tonight and tomorrow night (23-22 degrees) is gonna be the two bad days as far as the temp goes. The harbor is 46-45 degrees right now. The bright sunny days we have on the way will help.................
  5. I read a report from NC that they have already lost about 10,000 pounds. Some of the fish were 10-12 pounders! Now THAT makes you sick!
  6. As many of you are aware inshore water temperatures in the state of South Carolina are getting critically low. Speckled trout mortalities have been reported this week in Swansboro, NC and we want to utilize every resources we have to monitor the situation in our state. Below is a graph of temperatures measured by the USGS at the Customs House in Charleston as you can see, over the last week the temperature has continued to trend downward currently approaching 8.5 C (46.4 F). Of course this is only a single point measurement and conditions along our coast could vary widely that is why I am contacting ya’ll. The last significant speckled trout kill observed in our state was in winter 2000-2001 when water temperatures in Charleston got down to 6 C (42.8 F). Thereafter, trout catch per unit effort in our inshore survey dropped precipitously and it took two years to begin rebound. While our biological staff and law enforcement personnel continue to be vigilant and closely monitor the situation, any extra eyes and ears reporting pertinent observations would be helpful. In the event of a kill we need to document the magnitude and extend of the kill. If you observe dead fish either on the bottom or floating please provide the following to me including: number of fish observed, species, location, date and time. My contact information is below. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Wallace Jenkins Program Coordinator SCDNR SC Governor's Cup Billfishing Series phone 843-953-9835
  7. Here is some old stuff. Something besides "Fish" I haven't posted in a while so here ya go... All pictures are copyrighted.
  8. No snow here in Charleston,SC,,,,but it did get down to 27 last night. Its not looking good for the trout,,,we might have a fish kill if it gets to cold for to long. (DAMIT)
  9. ,,,,yep Its a blue moon tonight. The first full moon was on the 1st, and the one tonight makes it a "Blue" moon. Two in one month.................. I cant remember when the last one was?
  10. I would try a Gulp on a heavier jig head, or a 52M21 Mirror Lure. It sinks at a rate of one foot per second. I would do a slow erratic twitch back to the boat. Its the one in the middle here. And dont forget the Rattle Trap..... http://www.rat-l-trap.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&category_id=33&flypage=flypage_images.tpl&product_id=34&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=89

  15. Thanks Jeff. I do a lot of photography. No flash was used in these pic's. This should give you a clue......I use nothing but Canon.
  16. I just did it for the picture,,,But I will do this for short periods of time. It wont hurt the new guides we have now. Another thing is not to let the hook rub on the rod blank for a log period of time. Its a lot softer than a ceramic guide insert.
