  1. The problem is this photo was taken of an island in the Berries....what were they doing there?
  2. DTS is digital throttle and shift. See if it has them! It is a wonderful option that comes standard on Verados. Since the boat is 2009, it is the 'new' style 29 Sea Vee. I really do love and almost prefer the old style 29 Sea Vee, but you gotta deal with what you got. As for boat vs. boat and company vs. company, as much as Sea Vee is not as nice to you as Sea Hunter is, I would go with the Sea Vee. I know the South Florida boat market very well and just went through the same decision making you did about a year ago when I got my Invincible. For quality, build, fishability, fit and finish, and reputation, it is honestly pretty tough to beat Sea Vee. The boat has no electronics whatsoever? By the time you add any additional options and electronics, you could be over 140K and IMO that is too much money in today's market. That would be a good deal on a 32 I think. I would agree with you in saying that the new 29 was more than likely built to accomodate the heavier four stroke motors. The weight difference between say 250 Verados and 225 OptiMaxes is 135 lbs per motor. If anything that will have you trimming the boat LESS in order to keep the bow tucked in because of less weight hanging off the back. You have to look at what you want. I would go with the OptiMaxes in a heartbeat and as for resale, you'll lose your shirt off the boat anyways so go with what you want.
  3. Welcome to Reel Boating! You should 110% go for the boat if the deal is right and the boat is what you want. There is absolutely nothing wrong with 2 strokes nowadays and they are as sophisticated as 4 strokes are given the electronics in them. OptiMaxes are tried and true in this day and age and I would venture to say they are just about bulletproof now. They are noticeably better than Verados in fuel economy and I would venture to say that they are probably one of the most fuel efficient motors on the market, if not THE most fuel efficient motor on the market. Does the boat have DTS for the Optis? I do not see any reason for you to specifically look for a 4-stroke deal, I have four strokes but I would take OptiMaxes anyday. The only drawback is you have to put expensive OptiMax oil in them, but they don't guzzle it too bad. Other than that, you're good to go! I would definitely bite if you like the deal! Good luck and let us know what you decide to do, also pictures and more info on the boat! Happy Holidays!
  4. One last bolt and the tie bar. What a POS and a waste of a boat, not to mention the top might be the ugliest and cheapeast thing I've ever seen. I will never ever buy a Midnight and this confirms my ambitions.
  5. Didn't think it was possible but the ol' Bayou was pulling harder and harder as the measley 300 HP Verados sang a Christmas Carole.
  6. Looks like the cap completely separated........I'm not exactly sure that buoy was responsible for doing all that damage....good thing I am not in the market for a new Bertram!
  7. Well, I'm fairly seasoned, been running sport fishing boats for over 40 years. It's simple. What we do is never let squid juice and blood dry on the boat. We clean the boat continuously during the days fishing with a brush and water, part of the mates job is to keep the boat clean. Then at the end of every day the boat is scrubbed from flybridge to waterline with a mixture of clorox and dish detergent. About 2 cups of Clorox (not the no-name bleaches) and a good squirt of liquid Dawn in a half bucket of water. Scrub it good with a brush, let it sit about 20 minutes then rinse it off good. My boats used to fish 300 days a year, got washed with Clorox and Dawn 300 days a year, never had rotten cushions or stitching from the bleach. Once squid ink dries in the sun for a few days, I got no idea how to get it off. Sandblaster maybe For the recreational guys, using the combination of Dawn/Clorox or either of them by themselves on gelcoat will strip your wax right off so only boat soap on the gel areas. We fish for swordfish at night so it's hard to keep track of the people on my boat and what mess they make, especially when it's dark.
  8. Makes my boat look like a slug! SWEET! I want one! I love the Mercury racing outboards.
  9. Woohoo just ordered mine, I'm new around here but hope to learn somethings and see all them pretty boats. Just ordered a few for myself....been told supplies are running low, get them before someone else does!
  10. How much you pay for that beer and popcorn? I know a guy, I can get you a deal.... Damn, $7.49 for the 12 of Natty Light, $1.29 for the bag of Jolly Time. I'm looking to save some big bucks... Let me talk to my "contacts" You may have to buy in bulk. The Natty Light, yeah, we can do that... We may need a Natty Caddy....
  11. Hey Bob, Sorry for the delayed response. As far as new boats and repairing gelcoat and other defects from manufacturing completely under warranty, that is what I expect for the entire balance of my 10 year hull warranty. There have already been a few areas where the hard top was not properly mounted in a few areas and it cracked some gelcoat. Took the boat to Invincible and they fixed it up no questions asked. With anything that is not my fault (I don't ask them to fix a gelcoat ding from a 6oz. lead), I look to the manufacturer to take care of it. My boat was advertised to me as one of the strongest and toughest built boats in the world so I uphold that word to the owner of the company to honor my hull warranty if any defects arise. Any buyer of any new boat should be entitled to have defects fixed under their hull warranty. No questions asked. There should never be any questions from the manufacturer when it comes to fixing these problems. Invincible got a check well north of $200,000 for the BB, they better damn well fix anything that I am not happy with...and thus far they have been fantastic. This is the best boat I've ever owned and I'm happy to say it's the best boat I've ever been on. When it comes to the next boat, customer service is the #1 factor that I consider because the last thing I do is give money to a bunch of clowns.
  12. FRITZ! Nice boat! Great catching as always!
  13. Forum upgrade and it makes sense unlike FS....nice.
  14. I'll get that and the Magic Eraser and make a head to head contest between them. There are 2 areas with the same looking squid ink stains so we'll see what works. Thanks for the advice!
  15. One of the best riding boats out there....one of my favorites. Good luck with the sale, great price for a great boat.
  16. Capt. Jan, Good seeing you here and great story about your skiffs, they look fantastic. David Mckenzie is a class act.
  17. What are a few good products to try to remove a few stains from my combing bolsters? Seems like some squid juice got on a few areas and my buddy's Grundens got scum on the console cushion and I want to take some time to get it all off when I go to detail the boat in December. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  18. This update better happen at a ludicrous speed.
  19. [A name=Mine' date='Nov 24 2009, 03:11 PM' post='25603] This vessel is by far the cats a$$! http://www.nordhavn.com/75/
  20. Mike, That Newport is beautiful, exactly the style I like. I think there is one for sale here near where I live, but it may be a different boat. Thanks for the posts PYB, Mike, and everyone else, you guys make RB a great place!
  21. Fubar, I agree Broward is a very high quality and selective builder, but as you said all their sizes have been over 100 feet and that is just too big. I'm just trying to gather information these next few years as further down the line I think a boat like this is possible so we can do long trips in comfort. Something like the Pershing 64 comes to mind. That 115' with the jet drive is incredible.
