Mercruiser 3.3L engine problem

Does anyone have experience with the Mercruiser 3.3L 170HP engine. I have one that leaks water into the oil. it is a freshwater cooled version of this engine, but there appears to be no oil cooling in the heat exchanger. I'm suspecting a cracked head or block, or if I'm lucky a blown head gasket. Haven't torn into it yet, but wondered if ant body had the same problem, and what was the final outcome. Thanks.

Not to sound like it may be obvious, but it sure sound like an HG. What were the signs of "failure" that led you to this issue? Overheat on the Temp gauge? Perhaps a blocked intake?
