Outboard Help

I've come across a deal on a 2003 Four Stroke Yamaha High Thrust. I am wanting to replace an old two stroke on my 17ft Polar skiff. I was wondering if this engine will work for me. I'm not concerned too much with speed. I know the lower unit is geared differently for higher loads.

It is designed for pontoon boats or other very heavy boats. The engine will not be quite as fast as a regular Yamaha 4-stroke (just a couple mph slower). It will be a little less efficient than a regular Yamaha 4-stroke. It will have better performance running in rough water, pushing a heavy load, and getting on a plane. If you think the regular model will be more than enough power the High Thrust should be adequate.
