Wrong spark arrestor on 5.7 liter?

Recommended Posts

I have a 1998 5.7 liter merc 250 hp, the pvc valves have the hoses which run up to the top of the carb and spark arrestor however there are no connections for the hoses to hook up to? There are two tabs with small appx. 1/2" diameter holes in them that they have the hoses stuck to but i find it hard to believe this is what is supposed to be there, can anyone shed some light on this subject for me?

That sounds right. There are no PCV valves, just the two breather hoses going from the valve cover to the spark arrestor. The hoses attach to metal tubes that are held to the arrestor by the nuts on top usually.
