Boat lift questions

Recommended Posts

Me and my family our renting a condo on the water for the month of July and have rented the lift behind the condo. Have never used one and have a couple of easy questions for someone who has. I have a 20' Regal Deck boat.

1. How do you remove the plug from the boat once it is raised up on the lift?

2. How do you wash down the motor as it is in salt water and I would want to get it cleaned out quickly, do you have to climb down there to put on ear muffs. I have not seen any hook ups in the boat to accomplish this however if someone is familiar with the boat and this is an option please help.

3. Also completely unrelated to lifts, there is a switch under my throttel control that I have to idea what it is for. I have tilt controls on the side so it is not that, any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks

I don't remove the plug.

I rigged up a standard cup muffs on a 10' piece of schedule 40 1" PCV with an aluminum ground rod for a little backbone. I taped the PVC to the rod. I put one of those quick disconnect couplings on the other end. I lift the boat just high enough to get the prop out of the water, get the water flowing then climb in and crank it up.

Don't know about the switch.
