Large Mouth

My buddy has a John boat and off we went for a few hours before the wind kicked up. Nothing like glass calm early morning. He much needed to get out, his momma is in the hospital and its been real touch and go everyday. After open heart surgery almost 3 weeks ago, not good. He is a solid worm fisherman I'm a solid top water guy. He fished the Grande Bass worm casting it toward the bank/grass beds and I ripple the water with the ribbit frog. No time at all he has his first fish the lake is full of 2-3 lb fish then again and again he's clicking them off (catch and release)now its my turn there is nothing better to see then a large mouth jumping out of the water and destroy a frog and the battle is on nice fish catch and release,thats how we roll. With cloud cover I stuck with dark colors I went to a torpedo lure and it was just as deadly one bob two bob and whack fish on. Now my buddy and me are fishing, the great thing about a top water is when a fish blows up on it and misses the hook my friend would cast his worm to the spot and yep catch the fish I just missed thats cool time and time again. I got bit off so I went with a double blade buzz bait black in color and with a slight breeze it was no time at all before fish on again and again before the blades went south and would no longer stay in position. I went with a smaller blade chartreuse color buzz bait nothing not even a look. Changed it out for a large blade black/blue color it took 2 cast before whack 3 1/2 lb fish. We got on the water at 7:30 and left at 11:00 my buddy 16 fish,and I had 10 with both of us each catching a 3 1/2 lb fish. All fish caught in this story where released to fight another day.
