Cleaning dock lines

Recommended Posts

Just pulled the boat for the season. Some of my dock lines are looking a little brown from dipping into the bay. How should I go about cleaning them? I was thinking of soaking them in a bucket with warm water and some Tide then rinsing and then soaking with some fabric softener ( I read this softens up the lines )then rinsing again.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

john

I always had good luck soaking them overnight in a large bucket of warm water with a generous amount of OxyClean, followed by another overnight soaking in cold water with fabric softener. Slosh them around in both buckets often to work out the dirt and work in the softener. Then hang them outside to dry. Don't even think about running them through the washer and dryer; you'll end up with a useless tangle of nylon. Don't ask me how I know. :1925_:
