Noth Port or Port Charlotte

We are looking to buy in this area have found a few places in these two towns. Any thoughts or considerations on either would be appreciated. How is the trip down the canals to the bay / gulf, I currently have a 175 osprey center console.

I'm out of bradenton, the trip to the gulf shouldn't be too bad, but one thing to look for is the tides, on the West coast there are a lot of shallow areas and in low tide, is looow, Depends on your draft, but usually those canals that acces from properties to the bay and gulf are maintained and dretched, with markers, you should be ok. Google can help a lot, if you look at a property, google it and do hybird or bird's eye, look on the water acces and it should give you a good idea.

If you have the opportunity, rent a boat to see how long it takes to get out of your perspective canals. I don't recommend North Port. Sarasota county, on the Myakka, is all no wake.

The Myakka is no wake?

In Charlotte County,no. In Sarasota County, YES!

If you like the Myakka river, look at Gulf cove, South Gulf Cove and El Jobean. NW port Charlotte has access to the river too, but the canal entrances are few and very tricky to get out. I've hit bottom with my 10' inflatable, on plane, in the marked channel.
