2000 Scarab Sport 302 Clearcoat

Recommended Posts

I've had my Scarab two years now , and lately everytime I go out parts of the clearcoat peels off, Does anyone know what brand Wellcraft used on the 2000 models?

I'd like to recoat but would like to use the same brand they used for compability. (Imron, AWL-GRIP,Sterlin,etc)

thanks.

I have a 1994 Scarab that I have had for 8 years and there is no clear coat on mine, just original gel coat. Could it be that the previous owner put a coat of Poly Glow on it just to make it look super shiny for the sale? Posting some pics would help. I don't think Wellcraft used paint and clear coat. As far as I know they are all gel coat and the graphics were vinyl decals.

Hey Chris, thanks for the reply, mine is a year 2000 sport 302, wellcaft did make graphics in basecoat and clearcoated the sides, the bottom is gelcoat and the top part under the fender also gelcoat, I met a wellcraft exemployee and told me it took the painters three weeks to finish the sides, but didn't know what brand they used, I worked for Bertram years ego and we used IMRON on the water line, it was jet black color most of them. my consern is that some of these paints react if you recoat on top of other, If I knew what they used i'll get the same brand and re-do the sides and will last another 8 years.

I'll send you some pictures so you can see, if you hear anything, please.

thanks again bro

Nelson
