Questions about epoxy and brass fittings

Recommended Posts

Ok here we go, i'm trying to install a bilge plug assembly on the transom of my boat. the boat was repo'd and for what ever reason they took out the old one. i went out and bought a new plug assembly and epoxy and some marine sealent. I plan on cleaning the area ok work putting epoxy over the inside of the hole and putting the sealent around the screws and outside flange of the female end of the bilge plug assembly and inserting the female plug part of the assembly into the transom and screwing it in. Being that there are previous screw holes should i use epoxy on the previous holes and use the same holes or seal the old ones up and make new ones? am i doing this correctly? is there a tube that the female end goes into? i have nothing but a hole with hull foam and bilge. I think i'm over thinking this but i want to do it right.
