Bronze Thru Hull Fitting Installation and Location?

Recommended Posts

I am about to start installing a AC unit in my 1991 31' Tiara Open. I am wondering if there is a certain location were I should drill my hole through the hull? I would like to use the same location that the factory uses on boats that came equipped with AC.

I was told to research this carefully before drilling.

Also is there any special method for drilling this hole?

I would assume 3M 5200 sealant would be a adequate.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Is the bilge in the mid-cabin below the settee cushion available? I used to install the pickup, strainer, and pump in this area on 32 and 34 Stamas'. The air handler went under the v-berth fwd.

But have you contacted Tiara as far as ascertaining the original location. There shouldn't be any issues with the hull bottom, unless it was cored, which I doubt...
