Recommended Posts

Bought my first boat today. its a 2003 angler 2200 Grande Bay. Its got a 200 4 stroke yamaha with 43 hours. I got it for a little under 12 G's. how do you think i did? it was a repo boat so it does need a little work but it looks good me. and its my first post on this forum!

Congrats on your boat! There is nothing wrong with an Angler and internally your motor is almost brand new. So I would say you did alright, especially if you keep the boat and use it a lot. It should be a pretty fuel efficient rig which is nice.

I'm sure you got cosmetics to take of if it has been sitting outside unattended. Check your fuel to make sure there is no water in the tank, change your fuel filters, change the oil and filter, change the lower unit oil and replace the water impeller, repack the trailer bearings and you should be good to go.

Congrats on the new rig and welcome aboard!

Looks like a real nice boat. As mentioned, check the gas if it has been sitting. I would go as far as saying drain it, make sure the tank is clean and fill with fresh gas treated with Stabil or Startron or similar. Depending on how long it sat and where the gas came from it could cause issues. Plus if it was a repo, chances are the last owner did not winterize it or prepare the fuel for long term storage. I would spend some time getting to know here. Crawl around every knook and cranny. Clean it inside and out and check her out while you do it. That's how you find potential problems plus you can learn a lot about the boat. I spent days just searching every corner of the boat, cleaning spots that had never been cleaned or even looked at before and putting hands on every component I could to learn what makes her tick. The more you know about her the better.

Make sure you post your experiences with your new toy. And don't forget, you can tell us all you caught a lot of fish today but only the ones you post pictures of count :1121_wink:
